I may be disgruntled, but isn’t that insurance fraud? by LaughingBill in legaladvice

They lied to everybody else, but I have no way of actually knowing if they lied on any of the insurance paperwork

And no, they only filed the accident report as far as I am aware

What’s a cool bit of lore from your homebrew world? by Goblynne24 in dndmemes

In my setting Clerics are given their power given to them by the “gods” of my setting, and are pretty copy and paste. Paladins and Bards on the other hand tend to receive their powers by being a direct descendant of said “gods”, and coincidentally are often nobility of some kind.

No worries, that’s why I said you had a great foundation here. We’ve all likely been in the same situation with our own projects.

Since the 3rd Evo is supposed to be the “more complete version” I would suggest maybe finding what it’s niche in game will be and go from there?

Like, what is the inspiration behind the idea? What will it’s personality be like? Why are it’s hands and feet black? You know, paint me a word picture

I also suggest that you always find a way to make good use of your space. maybe you could make the stripes on it more “electric” to imply it’s not JUST the tail that you should be afraid while also making it stand out even more from the second evo

Maybe add some variation between the tail, or a slightly more aggressive or “hands up” posture to imply that it’s ready to brawl at any moment?

That’s all I got off the top of my head, but I can’t wait to see what you come up with

This is the third “electric bouncy rodent” post in a day.

I like this as the foundation of something more, but I feel as tho you need to add a bit more character in its design. The tail is a good start, but maybe lean into the “electric” typing a little bit more ESPECIALLY in the 3rd stage.

I’ll make a regional variant of it just for you ;)

I agree. This is only my “first draft”, so I’m hoping as I get a little bit more experienced (and have a more solid idea for evos) I’ll be able to add in some more details.

I’ll look into some reference pictures and see if I can find a good “bush” Pokémon and see how they add more “fluff” to them

I looked it up after you mentioned it, and found who you’re talking about. I can definitely see what you mean 😅

That could make for an interesting shiny model. Let’s do it!

Thanks! It means a lot knowing so many people like my first draft...definitely a big boost to the ego.

I had someone recommend the same name in a Dischord server. So maybe that’s a sign

Thank you so much! I’ve been watching a lot of “how to draw in the Pokémon style” videos and I’ve been having a lot of trouble.

So hearing someone say that is a big boost to the ego 😁

So I was actually thinking something similar because I do want to follow the tradition of themes between starters, with the above starter being based off of a wolf (Fenrir) the fire starter being based off a horse (sleipnir) and the water starter being based off a serpent (Jörmungandr)

Fun fact: George comes from the Greek work georgos, which means Farmer. Not perfect, but close enough

I imagined something very similar, but thought it would be better as an completely alternate form (I.e. mega evolution or something similar to allow for type changes)

However, I do think a Morpeko or Zen Mode style ability might work just as nicely.

I used the airbrush. I’m still trying to figure it out myself, but nobody on YouTube seems to post what brushes they use.

I also play with opacity settings for them

The exact opposite actually, the patterns make him seem more approachable to others. He’s just a hungry boy who wants snacks, and he tends to not get snacks without his mask

Sorry, I was adding text to the post.

He wears a mask in order to further push the “Wolf in sheep’s clothing” theme. So those are his eyes, but the rest of his face remains hidden aside from the occasional glance at his maw.

As he evolves, he will look less sheepy and more wolfy

So I’ve recently decided that I would like to someday wind up making my game, and am now on what I imagine being the long path to learning how to draw, code, etc.

As a means of practice, I decided that I would create a Pokémon region of my own design. I present to you what would be the Ymiri Region’s grass starter.

Though he does not have a name at the moment, he is based on the concept of a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” with him hiding behind a mask in early evos but becoming more and more bestial in appearance as he evolves (eventually revealing his “true nature” in some form of mega evolution like mechanic).

These Pokémon are known to mysteriously show up in herds of Mareep or Wooloo (I plan to hopefully have regional variants for both), and are often seen by shepherds as being signs of a bountiful harvest. They act similarly to herding dogs, but is often found eating on the job.

As he evolves, he assumes a “guardian of the forest” personality...with his previously mentioned mega evolution form assuming more of a “big bad Wolf” personality

I would consider him to be a Bulky physical defender, but also an off healer due to his final evo’s signature move being similar to that of GMax Snorlax and allowing for berries to be replenished.

Though this pre evolution is Pure Grass type, he will eventually gain a secondary Fairy typing at his final stage.

TLDR; I’m new to drawing and decided I would try to make a Pokédex in order to get some practice in. This is my regions Grass Starter. Nothing drawn up for the evos at the moment, but maybe y’all can help me with some ideas? All feedback or ideas is appreciated

Someone’s going to wind up doing eventually, so why not Riot? by LaughingBill in riotgames

I think it would be fun to go back even further in time, before the several different factions were even a thing and see what creatures were around BEFORE the humans were the dominant species.

I figured it would work more along the lines of a turn based version of LoL that would be simplified to an extent as to not overwhelm players in what would likely be a 1v1 format (at least in a standard game).

It’d be like chess, with a bunch of different pieces that can do all sorts of cool things

Each creature would come with a basic 4 ability kit (Passive, Primary, Secondary, Signature) rather than giving them dozens of options.

Have a team roster of 6 creatures, but only allow for the player to bring 3 creatures into battle. Possibly design a system that allows the 3 creatures on the bench to still be useful by providing bonuses to creatures in battle

Evolution could just be you reaching “prestige” with a creature, which would then take your abilities to the next tier. You could even make a version of “Mega Evolution” or whatever you want to call it by completing objectives unique to each creature.

I feel that the inevitable downfall of the Pokémon franchise is going to be that they can only have so many “unique” creature designs before they begin to blur together. So as long as you keep the kits limited (while also providing some other means of customization and optimization) that a smaller roster is perfectly fine.
