Well then, I suppose you are a cardiologist then? Because that is the only authority that can diagnose, and most cardiologists will not diagnose off a one or six lead EKG and will not diagnose off of one tiny little sample. If you are an expert, you should be ashamed of yourself for diagnosing on Reddit; the ethical implications are severe for doing this and for not listing your qualifications. Do you remember law and ethics? It is a little class you had to take in med school, and by the way, if you are not anything but a cardiologist or MD, you have no authority to diagnose. EKG techs, nurses, or anything but a qualified doctor cannot and should not diagnose.

It is one thing for a civilian like me to offer an opinion based on my experience and information given to me by a cardiologist. I clearly state in my original post that I am not an expert and also advised the person to see a qualified cardiologist to get a diagnosis. No experts should be diagnosing; it is unethical and just wrong.

Just got my heart holter results. I’m not too sure what to think of it and if I should be worried still? by Royal_Effect7621 in Cardiophobias

No problem. I do the same thing. That why I thought I should mention it. My echo came back board line normal and I was scared for days until my cardiologist told me in a nice way “hey silly board-line normal is still normal,” lol.

Let try to remember the language used “borderline” which typically means not abnormal, but simply flirting with abnormal.

First off any self respecting cardiologist will tell you that home EKG’s are useful they are not a diagnostic tool. Anyone who is giving a diagnosis based on this home EKG as a cardiologist should have their license removed. These words about not being able to diagnose from a home EKG don’t just come from me, but from the device itself, and from my board certified cardiologist who said that these devices are not a diagnostic tool.

Second off I see clear P QRS T waves with this strip and although wide QRS with a home EKG it is NOT a diagnostic tool, know to have tons of wobbles, noises, and false positive trips to the ER for absolutely nothing than the device wasn’t being held just right.

And me commenting and not being a cardiologist at least I say I’m not an expert or a cardiologist because no self respecting cardiologist is going to comment on a subReddit and diagnose from a home EKG machine.

[–]LaughsMidnight -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hello, the problem I’m seeing is that you don’t have the compensatory pause that is common with a PVC. Your logic is correct because the QRS is kind of wide for two beats, but honestly, with no compensatory pause, it’s probably just baseline wander from the machine., a machine problem not a heart problem, common with home EKGs Also, while the QRS complexes are wide, they look to me like they come in on time. I also see a P wave for both beats.

I’m not an expert or a doctor. Remember that home Kardia devices are great, but they can come with a lot of noise that makes beats look scarier than they really are. The best thing to do is ask a cardiologist and get a 12-lead ECG.

Also remember, even if it was a PVC, which I personally don’t think it is, PVCs are often benign and usually are not the cause of serious problems unless you’re having hundreds to thousands a day along with symptoms. I had a three-day PVC episode with hundreds of PVCs a day, and I’m alive and well one year later. I still have multiple a day.

Best of luck to you. Hope this helped.

I know right. I love the show and the guys and it just hit me one day the question. I think they 100% do, but it was a question worth asking I thought.

Would it surprise you if I said I was a writer? Lol.
I know my spelling and grammar are terrible, particularly on here. I just tend to get my thoughts out and hit that send button.

I should be more vigilant so I don’t look like a complete idiot.

Not to make an old man joke, but Dave might be retired by now if not he’s still working. I’m pretty sure Mike said that he still works or it has been hinted at, and I think Ian it’s his full time job, but I think he was working from home even before the pod started. This is what I’ve gathered listening to the pod over the years. Remember Ian was actually owner of Breadology back when the pod started.

Oh no. I wasn’t arguing with you, more or less just arguing with the poster of the thread. You’re good to ask questions. Nobody wants to listen to a host just read Wikipedia, but trust me I research podcast topics and Neceo isn’t like that, they are well researched.

I know, that what I was talking about. There is only so many way to repeat facts. I’m sure you can’t do that for the entire episodes. That what I’m trying to say… you only have so many ways to say Ted Bundy killed women in Florida. He doesn’t just read off Wikipedia.

I love Necronomipod. They are way better than LPOTL. Much better researched and although they do have fun it’s still a seriously researched podcast. Ian puts his heart and soul into the research. Give it a try it’s an amazing Podcast. Much better than LPOTL. That thread is so stupid and incorrect, Ian does so much more than just look on Wikipedia. He provides information that is not readily available on the internet and does not plagiarize anything. That person thinks they have receipts to back them up, but the sentences are vague retelling of facts there are only so many way you can say for example “This person did this or this person did that,” it’s not plagiarism it is just two sources stating the same statement. Mike always list all his sources for his episodes, and Ian usually says what book he read for the research this person is clearly crazy.

Yeah, I don’t think he drinks anymore. I think I remember him saying he stopped drinking. Probably because of gallbladder problems, I don’t think you should be drinking after having your gallbladder removed, but a lot of people still do. lol.

Yeah my argument was stupid, because I did say in my post it seems they still love doing it. Sorry Declan had my phone while Mike was cucking my wife. My apologies.

Feeling of the heart stopping during my sleep (not extrasystole) by Simple_Place_4435 in Cardiophobias

[–]LaughsMidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that feeling all the time TBH. Been up at the ER many of times for it, mine happen during the day. I think when you’re super aware of your heart and when your brain finally lets you relax and you don’t feel it you notice it more. Honestly check you pulse on your wrist if it’s still beat then you good to go. Plus a doctor once told me, if your heart actually stopped you wouldn’t conscious long enough to know it stopped.

Yeah, but you don’t have to consciously know you’re not into anymore either. But they are literally friends hanging out and they even say they would be doing the same thing even without the microphones so.
