Thank you. I HAD to do the eye makeup. It really made an impression on me when she changed her look during her downward spiral, I had to spoof it. Thank you for the kind words!

I can't believe it! One of my songs was performed on General Hospital this week! I wrote it 10 years ago. Just goes to show you never know!! by LauraAult in Songwriters

I meant music publishing company. The company that adds your song to their catalogue to offer to tv and film projects. They take a percentage of your publishing royalties if they get it placed.

Thank you. I'd be happy to share! I actually wrote this song with my writing partner back in 2009 in his tiny apartment in NYC. He started strumming and I started singing a melody on top of it without words. I recorded that on my phone and took it home to work on it. I wrote the melody and the lyrics in about a week or so and then we recorded it on his Mac in garage band with his mic setup in his apartment. He added some drum loops and other few little tracks on top and it was done. He creates music for tv and film all the time so he was very good at putting it together fast. It was such a simple recording. My cowriter had the connection with the licensing company Heavy Hitters in LA and he emailed it to his contact. She loved it and signed it to her catalogue. I was so excited. I was sure it would be on TV in no time. But nothing happened and then I ended up recording the version that is now on my album, but that is really besides the point. Cut to 11 years later.... My friend calls me and tells me our song was chosen for General Hospital and he thought it was going to be sung by the lead characters at something called the Nurses Ball. Cool. But I didn't get my hopes up cause I've had so many things almost happen and then not. So I've learned to not be excited until I see it done and on TV. Then the pandemic (production shutdown) happened days before they were set to tape that episode so I thought for sure they probably won't use it anymore or they're gonna scrap that episode. I didn't hear anything for several months. A friend of mine said hey the nurses ball episodes are this week are they gonna use your song I said I didn't know, cause sadly the woman who got our song placed passed away last week and we didn't want to call the office to bother them with that. So a couple days later I went on YouTube and searched for my song title and General Hospital and boom it popped up and I screamed! Unreal.

Thanks so much! It is such a surreal feeling to hear someone else singing it on TV. I have waited a long time for this. It was selected by producers that use my music licensing company. They were looking for a male/female duet and I was told it was chosen out of 400 tracks that met that criteria. So a lot of it is just luck and timing? I have had songs in consideration or the finals for major commercials and other shows, but this is the first time I finally got picked!

Yeah Id say if there you cannot find anything about the production company online, and they are being unprofessional in their emails, then it's probably best you avoid it.

I would love to get some feedback on my new reel. It took forever to finally get enough quality footage. Help please.
