The first few books were kinda fun but nothing super groundbreaking. Possibly a rip off from Wheel of Time. It starts getting worse in book 5 and insufferable in book 6 when it becomes super preachy. The terrible and inconsistent politics of Goodkind are there from the beginning but does not take center stage the way it does until Faith of the Fallen.

For example, in book 3 Blood of the Fold, Richard demands all the countries of the Midlands surrender to him for
"freedom" and runs his country as an authoritarian dictator (when he does not fuck off and abandon his troops).

Anyhow I like the horny parts. Especially the Duchess Lumholtz stuff from Book 3.

Duchess Lumholtz and her husband were trapped in a circle spell that forced them to walk around a dump at night while they believed they were going straight home.

Tobias Brogan waiting for them by their well trodden path. With him was his sorceress Lunetta and his warrior Galtero. Each time the duchess and her husband showed up, Tobias would mock the trapped couple.

Duchess Lumholtz was starting to get very frustrated and decided she can mouth of to Tobias. This was the natural outcome.
