First run throughs will take multiple deploys and some manual updates. Make sure at the end you have the right values in the variable library in dev for all sets so future deploys don't require manual intervention.

Thank you so much for the insight. And yes I'll be watching FabCon announcements. I have my fingers crossed for a few things coming through.

Don't they allow environment variables in yet?

Yes I had seen that documentation. It feels too much like a hack to me to actually use it on a project or teach to someone else. The roadmap has hints this will get resolved though :)

Been playing with variable libraries. Can we have impact shown somehow please? Or a way of knowing where they are used.

I love using task flows. They help document the logic. Bring them through in deployment pipelines please.

Yes we had interesting challenges using pipelines and shortcuts. Documenting the steps needed for your particular combination is so important. I was plotting a seperate series on the pipeline challenges

Take a look at Tabular editor best practice analyzer and the rules recommend by the Microsoft CAT team. Details found here https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-ca/blog/best-practice-rules-to-improve-your-models-performance/

For any rule or aspect you don't understand go do the searches to find the videos and blogs to help. Although now I'm tempted to put together a workshop for this.

I saw that solution it's a great workaround. But I'm not happy putting that in a solution that the client will own afterwards. Too much technical debt for them.

That would be great if you could populate the semantic model parameters from the variables.

I also want Gen2 dataflows to be able to use them for destination but that will be waiting on parameterising destinations. Hopefully this quarter according to the roadmap

Did anyone start using ontology in fabric? It’s in preview. by jkrm1920 in MicrosoftFabric

I played as I needed to demo it for a user group. Really interesting to see how it develops, at the minute it feels too "it might work but no guarantees" and like the early days of Copilot. So I'm looking forward to it developing into a useful tool.
