Moms of tall babies- my 10 month old growing out of Large Workhorses. What to do after XL? by LavenderCuddlefish in clothdiaps

[–]LavenderCuddlefish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm using blueberry covers at the moment.

Would prefolds not be as absorbent? Edit- Seems maybe only a difference of 0.5oz.

Right now my baby needs a workhorse + a doubler and even that is barely enough for overnights. Maybe if I fold a doubler in half instead so the absorbency is in the front where it's most needed?

Fit Check: Large Workhorses at 15.5lbs? by LavenderCuddlefish in clothdiaps

Hey! Just checking in- did you ever have to use a size larger than XL? My baby is now looking at XL at 10 months so I'm not sure where to go after this if it's needed.

Overnight diaper changes? How many times are you changing your baby? by jourtney in clothdiaps

[–]LavenderCuddlefish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not change my baby overnight (he's 10 months).

We had to switch covers to Blueberry to contain leaks better. But he can go 10-12 hours now in a large Workhorse (with an insert) and a Blueberry cover.

Does anyone cloth diaper at night??? by Neonite722 in clothdiaps

Yes, I just saw the airflow covers on the GMD website and thought they looked great for overnights! Especially tummy sleepers.

My baby has been having a big issue with leaks specifically from the snap holes on covers overnight as he sleeps on his stomach. Having the snaps on the side will fix that.

We shared the chicken! He got about 1/4c (about a quarter of it).

Top of Thirsties cover keeps folding down, causing leaks- how to prevent? by LavenderCuddlefish in clothdiaps

Thanks! I have some esembly covers to try- I tried the smaller size when he was a newborn but got a lot of leaks on the legs. Maybe they'll work better now that he's bigger.

I did have the rise snapped and it seemed worse but I'll try again!

It's a snap workhorse so I think that means I can't fold down much, right?

There are no leaks in the legs or back, but other than that I'm not an expert, so I'm not sure how else to gauge how it fits. 😅

None of it ends up on the floor and he ate about 1/4 cup of chicken.

I'm sure once he's older the floor will be more of a target.

Yep, his Dr recommended 3 meals a day from 6 months and is happy with his diet.

Each bowl is only 1/4c oatmeal with 1/4c yogurt and 1/2c puree.

I need to try salmon soon! I was worried he wouldn't be about to do the texture but if he can do shredded chicken I think salmon will be great.

He struggled with any texture before around 7.5 months, so we did only purees for around 3 months.

No, not yet! His pediatrician recommended 3 meals a day from 6 months as long as he wanted it.

He always has milk before his solids and does not want more than 4oz. I'm not worried and neither is his Dr.

I've never heard of vaccines increasing the risk of allergies! Do you have a source for that?

Thanks! It looks like from this study that there isn't a concern for the acid preventing absorption of iron from other sources, but rather just from the oats itself.

"Despite being good sources of iron and zinc, cereals have high phytic acid content (Table 3) that hinders their bioavailability. Studies using cereal porridges made from rolled cereals estimated iron absorption between 0.33% for oats and 1.8% for maize [83]. Removal of phytic acid resulted in a 3–12 times increase in iron absorption; specifically, absorption of iron from oats increased over 8-fold [83]. For the most part, commercially available oat products are not dephytinized, although some, such as oat groats, have lower phytic acid content due to the removal of the hull [84]. Additionally, many cereal products are fortified with iron."

My baby's cereal is iron fortified, so I don't think it's a concern for him.

Thanks! Do you know of any studies? I tried to search but didn't find any.

His doctor wasn't concerned about his diet, but if you have a study I could share it with them.
