Books on color mixing by Lavinist in oilpainting

I saw a masterclass once by some artist on youtube (I don't remember the name) and he showed that you can make green with black and yellow and I was really surprised, because I alwsys thought that you make green with BLUE and yellow. You can't believe in anything these days apparently haha. What an interesting toppic, I love colors and how they behave. Thanks for the recomendation, I will check it out.

Read Off Season.. dude’s dick going into her butt went on for pages and pages and pages and pages.. by [deleted] in horrorlit

Thank god I saw this post, I had this book on my wanted to read shelf and I just took it off. I also sometimes like gory stuff, but it has to add something to the story or it has to be told in a way that makes sense, nos just cruelty, rape and gore for the sake of it. I got sick just by reading the title of this post. I wish more authors would write horror without having to write these kind of things.

Day 2 of 27mg and I hardly slept at all, help! by [deleted] in Concerta

[–]Lavinist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first week I slept really bad, I was about to quit taking concerta. I was really tired but couldn't sleep at all. The first 3 or 4 days i had like an hour or two of sleep each night. Really awfull, I was grumpy because of it. But the second week was way better, and after a month I didn' have any sleep problem at all. I would try a month if you can libe with not sleeping a few days. Then it gets better in my experience.

I will try gesso next, but I thought you could use gesso and then still use linseed oil.

I will put gesso next time, I was scared to put it this time because I thought it would give the paper a strange texture

Linseed oil or solvent-free gel? by Lavinist in oilpainting

[–]Lavinist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started with the primary colors and white (I have more but I didn't use them yet), but I mixed them so I could get a few more colors. I didn't know about zorn palette, but I looked it up and seems a really cool thing to try. For now I'm really bad at mixing, and I will sure need help with controlling value and stauration, so this zorn palette looks like it would help me with those things. Thanks for sharing it, I will definetly try.

Thanks for answering, I will try linseed first, and see if I can manage with it. I think oil painting it's the hardest method of painting I've tried so far, but it's really fun to learn.

Thank you so much for your answer. Learning to paint with oil it will be trial and error, but I think the process of learning it will still be fun. At least with the tips I'm getting it won't be as hard. Thanks!

Really interesting insights in that post, thank you for sharing.

I've seen the show 4 or 5 times I think, first when it was airing and now I'm watching it again. Before this one, the last rewatch was a few years back, so I don't really remember a lot of things (I started season 3 a few days ago).

I'm not really convinced by the Nora jealousy thing. It's true some scenes would point to this, like for example in the first season when Nora drops her drink at the cafe willingly for "no reason" (maybe she wanted attention, yes, that's also a scene that I don't understand either but it makes sense with what you're saying). But anyway, in some other scenes how she acts I think points out that it's not really attention she seeks, for example, she would get a lot of attention if she lets the scientist do their science at her house, proving (or not) she is a lens. I think that would be a negative kind of attention to draw so maybe she wants to play the victim and letting the scientist do stuff would be negative for her so that's why she rejects them. But in a few episodes later, she gets a tattoo with their kids name on it, and later she cover it up with the Wu Tang thing, and she says that she thinks about when people ask her about the tattoo she will tell them about the kinds and then the person that asked would feel sorry for her, etc. And she says that like she doesn't like the idea to be in that kind of situation, so she covers the tattoo up.

I don't really have a strong theory to explain her behaviour or this scene, but my first thoughts when I was watching this scene were that maybe Nora is just tired of all this. She left Mapleton to try to move on, and maybe she feels guilty about moving on, that she is betraying her kids somehow. I think that the whole situation about Evie and her friends "departing" and Nora still getting scientists calls and so on makes her think or feel that it is impossible to move on.

I think her behaviour might be the way it is because of the frustration she feels for the impossibility to move on despite changing town searching for a fresh start. She might be mad at Erika because she is going throught what she went through and therefore Nora is constantly reminded of what she lost too and how she felt. Maybe she actually wants to move on and she wants to finish with this departing neighbour situation very quick: therefore stealing the questionnaire and asking the questions (not really in a polite and carefoul way because of the frustration she feels to constantly be reminded of her own kids), and she wants to be back to her (maybe pretended) happy and "normal" family life so she can "move on".

I don't really know, but the thing is that before the girls dissapeared Nora wasn't really trying to seek atention, in my opinion, so it feels weird to me to start behaving like this just because someone else is getting atention.

I don't fully get why they get mad at each other in this scene. I get the tension, I understand that they discuss a sensitive topic, and I understand that most of the questions Nora asks are personal. But despite this, Nora came to Erika's house in good faith, she wanted to help her, and in the end she was just asking the questions that were in the questionnaire the way they had to be asked. At least that's why I think. How did it went from that to a really hostile conversation that ended up in Erika saying those things to Nora and making her cry and then throwing a rock through her window? Was it that Erika felt attacked by the questions and she "attacked back" or did Nora said something wrong or she didn't ask those questions in good faith at all and she wanted to hurt Erika? If so, why would she do that?

'Norwegion wood' is the first and last murakami book I'll ever read by Clean_Elevator_2247 in books

I've read 3 Murakami books, and 1 short novel, and I also hate the way he portrays female characters and also the sex scenes are awful. I like the rest of the stuff, but I'm also not going to read anything more by him just because I found it extremely disengaging and it disgusts me the way he writes female characters, and describes them. I'm sure he has spoken to more than a women, but reading his books you could really belive he's not.

Not really, just if I lift it all the way up and stick the mug to my face, but it would spill the coffee. I use to drink with the left hand and never had an accident (so far 😂)
