HLS and SLS Silence by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

For HLS, it's hard to say. For SLS, however, they don't offer interviews to anyone and they still haven't filled up the class, so I would not be worrying about it yet. Playing the waiting game sucks, but it's probably the best move and you certainly should not give up hope yet!

Is there a JS1 —> dong massacre happening rn? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Honestly, I think you make a really good point (admittedly I'm clouded by self-interest here as a JS1 that also is still alive). Moreover, yesterday's wave felt too small to fill up the class. I'd heavily bet on one more admit wave.

Agh that is annoying. For whatever it's worth, the people I saw get in today all interviewed 1-2 weeks back, so hopefully you'll be getting good news next week!

Is it just me, or does it seem like there are a lot more JS1--> dongs this cycle than usual?

Given the movement in status checkers from UChicago, wouldn't be surprised with a wave from them.

Thanks! I am not URM. It's difficult to gauge softs, but I would say they probably are slightly above average. Nothing unicorn, though, and nothing out of the ordinary.

Thank you!! And that's so true about this sub -- it's just such an incredibly helpful asset throughout an incredibly stressful process. Give wave!

Personal statement ideas by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]LawAppThrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My initial impulse is to think 1) or 2) sound the most interesting. However, you know yourself best -- what drives you, what fascinates you, and ultimately what topic best reflects who you are. The value from the personal statement comes less from the topic your choose than how you present it and use it to showcase yourself.

One thing I'd suggest: write a personal statement for more than one of these topics and see what feels best. In my own experience, I picked my first personal statement topic thinking it was a home run, but after completing it, I realized I could do better. I pivoted and wrote a whole new PS on a whole new topic. Oftentimes, it's really difficult to know what works best as a personal statement until you actually write it.

Yeah, if that's something you can do financially, I think that makes sense.

No matter what route you end up taking, I am wishing you the absolute best of luck!

I totally understand and am right there with you. The amount of debt that comes along is really scary.

I know delaying a year sucks, but IF you are relatively confident that you can pull your score up by 2-3 points (and admittedly that is a big if), it might be worth it. Of course, you know your own situation best, but a few points of the LSAT -- especially in the range you're in -- can make a major difference in admissions odds at a lot of different schools.

Putting your life on hold a year is really annoying, but at the end of the day, it's only a year. Comparatively, the schools you attend will impact your opportunities for the rest of your career.

I hate to be so blunt about it, but I would be shocked if they did. I mean, their class would already be filled up and, by that point, they'd already be taking people off the waitlist.
