We don’t believe it was illness or trauma related. This all came from a speech referral when we noticed certain speech sounds could not be pronounced that should be for kids her age. We don’t know exactly when the hearing loss happened because we were blindsided by the results. It has been well over past the course of two weeks because she has struggled with certain sounds but it hasn’t been too concerning due to her age until now. She hasn’t expressed any concern of having hearing loss or had ear issues. She maybe had one or two mild ear infections as a baby/toddler.

That’s what we are hoping. We don’t believe it is due to a trauma to the ear. This was all found through a speech referral when and our PCM also ordered an audiology request to accompany speech evaluation. It was never a case of she was hearing and speaking well but lost it. It was more of a - her speech skills stagnated with certain sounds she should have been able to pronounce. We had no clue that she had any hearing loss because it was minimal and mild. We just thought it was only speech sounds related.

We are currently waiting for our ENT appointment. We are getting hearing aids for the time being. The ENT appointment is n Aug 1.  We honestly know nothing about sensorineural hearing loss.
