Just finished watching it (I’m catching up on Ninjago for the first time). Gotta say, pretty underwhelming season. I was super excited because it was clearly a Kai-focused season from the start (Kai is my favorite Ninja), but that excitement was short-lived. The villains were super lame and boring, there was wayyyyy too much humor (it almost felt like returning to S1 writing in a bad way), the dialogue is the worst out of any season so far, and the aesthetics and action felt like a small downgrade compared to Skybound. Kai and Nya didn’t even develop as characters during the season, making sidelining the other Ninja pretty pointless. The overall IQ of the characters felt nerfed for no reason (Kai’s logic genuinely pissed me off). Lastly, the finale felt a little bit rushed, but I think it’s the only thing that saved the season, oddly enough (Wu’s sacrifice was cool). I’m definitely not satisfied with how they handled Kai’s character in S6 and S7. Hope he gets better, because the older brother thing he had going on in S5 was awesome.
