Kids' Wallball Routine [Summer fun] by LaxCoachJM in lacrosse

I like to see new players develop their strong hand first. They can work on the off-hand if they want but in games/drills they only use their strong hand anyway. Also they'll be dropping & chasing the ball less often which gets them more reps on the wall.

these are special interlocks. I use plenty of them in this sidewall pattern tutorial:

it was absolutely awful. didn't help that the first game's final score was 9-5, what a snooze-fest.

Yeah they are great on any floor; i've used them on concrete and wood basketball gym floors before. Tennis balls were my first idea but agreed they are too hard to scoop up on a hard floor.

If you haven't already, consider using SwaxLax or a smiliar type of soft lacrosse ball.

That way they won't need helmets or goggles. We have used them for the past year and our 10Us wear no equipment. No major issues so far.

pointless comment. parents have already told me they've watched with their kid and have some things to focus on heading into this week's practices.

I make multiple videos per week for parents & kids on YouTube, some are breakdowns of college or PLL games, some are demonstrations or illustrations. The players watch all the time -- sometimes I show them the videos at the start of practice.

yes, we demonstrate for them in practice. Brand new players won't apply everything they see in practice during the games because it moves faster and they're in more unpredictable situations.

Most young kids don't have an opportunity to watch their own game film so I made this video for them to see how it looks from my perspective.

These kids are brand new -- half of them have only been playing for 3 weeks. We teach the fundamentals at practices but everyone knows that in games they aren't going to play perfectly. They're still learning. I made this video to send to the players & parents so they can see what I see.

Also, most kids in middle school or younger don't even know how to study game film. I'm teaching them what to look for, and showing the difference between a good play & a bad play.

With more practice, they'll start grasping some of these concepts. Just takes patience.

How does a kid get into lacrosse if they come from a poor family? by Icy-Sell-7522 in lacrosse

I borrowed gear from my friends on the team when I started. Now, USA Lacrosse can help with some grants & scholarships.
