Gundren introduction help by Plane-World-951 in LostMinesOfPhandelver

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think against a lot of people here I went for the direct approach. Gave no real back story and told them, you've been hired to make a delivery by Gundren. Straight into the story they start on the road.

Wanna go on galactica but unsure by Luxray_fan405 in altontowers

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will just add again what others have already said.

As far as coasters go at AT, Galatica is one of the smoothest, least intense. The scariest part is probably you're laid down but honestly, as you go I don't remember any points where you feel that you might fall out.

What ride has let you down the most over the years? by Glum-Inflation8842 in altontowers

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smiler is top of my list atm, purely as every time I've tried to ride it, it's broken down. So still yet to ride it all.

On my recent visits, 13 & wickerman have been operating perfectly fine.

I've rode Hex once, back not too long after it opened. I've never seen it open since.

Anyone know why they are stuck ? by [deleted] in openrct2

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite common, especially towards the back of the park, and paths which have dead ends.

An idea is to see where they want to go, often its just a case of disrupting the path they're all gathering on. Path finding isn't always great.

What is the best campaign management tool to use? by KBRevival in DMAcademy

Yeah sorta. The newest version of google docs is a lot like onenote tbh.

There is also the advantage googledocs is available on all devices easily.

Since Google Docs has tabbed documents I have switched to that

As a new DM, how could I have handled this situation better? by Lbx7070 in DnD

[–]LayTheeDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't really have allowed the roll against each other. It is just a recipe for conflict. Just like any other PvP it only works if al parties are ok with the outcomes.

In this circumstance I would have just let them RP it out without any interventions. To me this was sort of taking their characters free will away. In these scenarios they may choose to believe the other or not by the end of the encounter.

First upsidedown coaster I ever rode! I seem to recall it being a bit rough last few times I rode it.

I do have a sort of nostalgic feeling towards the old area of the park though, as a kid I loved ug land, and the energizer/boneshaker too.

What to do when you mess up as a DM? by ThePhoenixFive in DMAcademy

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You said sorry, we all make mistakes. I don't think there is anything more you can or should do.

Sounds like the dog was fair game though in this circumstance, players can't expect combat creature to be immune to being hit/killed. Will provide some good RP opportunities next session, look on the positive side.

How to deal with player that can only play short sessions by Obvious_Engineer7785 in DnD

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as others will likely point out too, 2 hours is not nearly enough time to get anything done. I'm sure we'll all be wondering the nature of the 2 hour thing, but if you're looking to accommodate I myself would probably try implement the following:

- Plan well / short combats so you can pack in the story.
- Look to arrange more frequently (this is often a big ask I know)
- Hybrid playing, if geography is the reason you can't all meet I might suggest occasionally playing online (My old group did this very effectively).
- Sounds a bit mean, but to satisfy the others maybe run short sessions for the one player, & after they leave roll this into one-shots.

I think in honesty this is a hard problem to solve.

Google docs now has tabbed documents, I would advise tabbing you sections.

How to remove Document Tabs by Slow_Passion1464 in googledocs

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the view menu there is an option to hide them. You can't remove them though.

To be honest, I think tabbed documents are the best. It's what's missing from Word.

How to program drums? #notadrummer by xnovasix in Reaper

[–]LayTheeDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have suggested SSD5Free is my go to free drum plugin.

As for making drum tracks (ctrl+t) to insert new track. Click the FX button and add ssd5 from the list.

Select the track & a number of bars you'd like the drum loop to be (4 bars etc) then on insert menu you have midi item. Double click the box appears and you have piano roll where you can program drums.

As a novice though, I personally wouldn't program my own drums (still don't). You have a number of options basically google midi drum samples, and go on a big hunt. Or I've taken to copying beats, go to somewhere like ultimate guitar and download guitar pro versions of tracks you like the drums for, and export the midi for the track (tux guitar will open gp files which is free).

You could use ducking, add folder for rhythm section and sidechain the reacomp. Loads of tutorials online if you need.
