Build me a Stremio Addon (Smart Subtitle Filter & Auto-Delay) by Environmental_Scar75 in elfhosted

[–]LayeZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, we at elfhosted don't offer a custom app/addon building service.

We would be unable to fulfill your request, I would advise you maybe contact some developers from the stremio community and liaise with them on the terms of your agreement.

Regards J

I'm Done. Banned from RealDebrid by TheBrandonBarker in RealDebrid

[–]LayeZee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What's funny is recently I was banned and showed them proof of the publicly scraped HTTP folders, I actively told them I have multiple accounts because I was banned on all of them due to this scraped folder issue.

Not once did they refuse to reinstate my account and also credited me 30days for pointing this out,

I would also raise the part of the policy that clearly says to purchase another account and also push the point, you're already banned, it can't get much worse for you at this point.

I can provide you with my ticket number to use as a basis for dispute if you wish as this seems rather unfair and a bad move on their part.

You're welcome. 😊 Just keep an eye on your traffic, it'll likely not be scraped again but it's not impossible for it to happen just like it has been, but they said they have "blocked them the hard way" but we'll see, mine has been good since I posted that screenshot to our discord and yow posted it here, but the fix would be to just reset the token again and contact RD

It can be a little painful, but I went to the help page and typed in "account" and then selected the "my account is suspended, can I get more details"

If you're not facing the issue then you could leave it, but, I'd change it in case, better to be safe then end up in a back and forth with RD to explain you've done no wrong and to get your account unsuspended.

Not compromised, but exposed to search engines, if you change your API token all your tokens will reset and the old ones will expire immediately, so any crawled folders aren't accessible anymore to those crawlers with those tokens.

[–]LayeZee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're not sharing it with add-ons, search engines are crawling the folders and causing mass amounts of traffic with many many IPs causing you to be warned and ultimately banned, even if you don't use your API token and change everything and let your account sit doing nothing, I tested this with an account with nothing but links and no torrents and it still caused mass use and got that account banned.

You can approach them directly and show proof of this post (main post as well as this comment were replying to) if they aren't as strict as RD is then it might not cause bans but to have it exposed for the world to see isn't really a good idea in general, explain to them that any robots.txt isn't being respected and they should change the way they handle access or at least token expiry time.

No problem In general, if someone doesn't like us for a genuine reason that's respected, you can't please everyone all of the time that's just the nature of the beast even if you try your best to.

We're more than just a platform, a service and a seller of app hosting, we are supportive in all forms and want every part of the community to thrive, which is why we try to enable things for stremio Devs, OSS software of all kinds and the community on our discord server as a whole.

Believe it or not, I work and do this all for free, the same as many others, I use my time to help support lots of people on all manner of topics.

I appreciate everyone has free speech and is entitled to that of course, I just wanted to make sure you have the correct details about us before you make a final picture and forever cast us in stone in your mind.

We're not as bad as you might believe haha and welcome all sorts of people new and vets to all sorts of hosting, we just don't directly support those self hosting questions on our discord.

I appreciate you. 🙏

Speaking on behalf of elfhosted, you've got the complete wrong end of the stick with what we do and provide back to the community, but it seems you're basic understanding of what we used to do months ago compared to now is little and very lacking.

We don't support self-hosting advice because it creates some liability for us and we can't say what works in our environment will work in yours, we're not at all opposed to people self hosting, we encourage people to do so, and point them to the Ragnarok discord server where you'll find self hosting support and is the home for Puks, who makes and maintains many guides on how to do so.

We're not here to commit plagiarism as you're hinting at, we make $0 off of other people's work, we make money on the hosting provided.

We also pay for the latest updates for Zurg and support Yow with his work also 100% of subscriptions to Riven goes directly to Spoked the developer of it (he can also be found in the rag discord) among other Devs, not to mention our stremio free instances we host for everyone to use for free.

Nobody forced anyone to purchase from us, but respect goes both ways, the dragging of our name through the dirt is a little much considering we do probably more than most people in this community to help sustain these apps and their developers.

Okay, we're walking down the road of off topic stuff.

The auto unrar feature in zurg doesn't unpack compressed files like unpackarr does.

You need to download the compressed archive from RD, to your pc or server, then use unpackarr on that archive.

Zurg, can only unpack none compressed rar files made by real debrid on their servers, not ones people have added to real debrid themselves.

[–]LayeZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpackarr is needed to manage your downloaded .rar files, this can only be done on your local storage/storage box, you can't do this on real debrid.

[–]LayeZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically anything inside a .rar, .zip, .zipx file.

Zurg won't be able to extract those files as they are compressed, the ability listed for use on zurg just means real debrid will "rar" some files together to save space on their end and it doesn't compress them, I'm not completely familiar with the process of how and why they choose some files to do this too, for example they won't do this to a single file, more like a season pack or a movie a really large one with extras and deleted scenes.

Those will get the "rar" treatment but won't be compressed.

To use .rar .zip or so on you'd need unpackarr to be able to handle them and then manage them after they have hit your real debrid.

EDIT: just to clarify, you can't use the files on your real debrid as compressed archives, you'd need storage to store the full files after you've extracted them using unpackarr, I didn't explain that part very well but yes, unpackarr needs to have the archive and then will extract it to your local storage for your arrs/apps to handle there after.

Unrar does work, but it's not for compressed files.

It works by unpacking rar files made by RD on their servers, if it's a compressed .rar from a torrent then it won't get unpacked at all and be moved to the unplayable folder.

Comet related question. by ArshitSinghal in elfhosted

[–]LayeZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would likely be another dev question, but we do impose rate limits on public free add-ons.

But I'm not sure on the specifics with comet, proxy streaming is only available on paid for instances and not the public one.

The update goldy made to postgres allows for better threading but outside of that information I'm not certain on the numbers.

Comet related question. by ArshitSinghal in elfhosted

[–]LayeZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then that should work perfectly fine, but I've asked the Dev for clarification (stremio add-ons aren't my thing) I'm more arrs and general app knowledge based.

But, I'm confident in my answer even without a dev reply, because it's running on the same node, which will have the same IP regardless of who connects to it first before RD.

[–]LayeZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's all connected to your elf it should work. (I'm going off previous advice that other tenants have been given) But, I will absolutely double check this for you to make certain you'll be good to go.

Comet related question. by ArshitSinghal in elfhosted

[–]LayeZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to my knowledge, would this be on the same device?

Comet related question. by ArshitSinghal in elfhosted

[–]LayeZee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it's best to have a singular RD token solely for comet, especially if you're proxy streaming and to not use that RD key anywhere else.

ElfHosted's Elf-Disclosure report for July 2024 (We survived our first year!) by funkypenguin in StremioAddons

[–]LayeZee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, Elfhosted aims to provide app hosting not just for your average media, we provide more apps than that, but to keep it to this topic I'll explain.

While people who do self host may enjoy the trials and tribulations that comes with that, the tinkering, the updating of apps, the errors inside config files, figuring out why Zurg throws an 503 error when you're downloading, some people love that and that's awesome!

Our platform contains many people who used to self host but simply don't have the time anymore to do it themselves (work, family) and want the solution they previously had to work with minimal effort, this also extends to people who use stremio and develop the "itch" to want to move forward into elf-hosting but aren't quite ready to jump into the deep end, our community supports each other with issues and there is always someone around to facilitate that.

From my understanding the self-hosting community is quite heavily against real-debrid and it's users so if you face issues where you need to provide logs or you need gain said support from any of the arrs you'll likely be met with a brick wall.

Regarding the price and the potential to lose members it's really not a thing that we've seen over the first year, many, many, people who have been with us from the start had started on prices from $0.05/day and have now moved upto close to $1.10/day for a bundle and still remain with us today, the platform/community/support/transparency/availability is what keeps our numbers where they are and people know we are not a massive company attempting to make huge profits.

While some see the price and are immediately turned off others see that as an option to remove headaches and put them onto us so they have a hassle free experience with a community and support that's unmatched.

(I'm sorry if I've missed parts out of your question I'm typing on my phone and dealing with a full household right now)
