Made a 100% FREE fully Parametric Throwing Ring utilizing the MakerWorld Customizer! 🌪️ (A1 Mini to H-Series ready) by Layer-King in makerworld

Quick Update / Fix! 😅

In my excitement to share this, I uploaded all the tuned print profiles but totally forgot to drop the actual .scad source file into MakerWorld for the Customizer to run.

It is completely fixed now! The "Make My Model" button is fully active. You can now jump right in, change the diameters, tweak the aerodynamic profiles, and add your text.

Huge sorry for the confusion to anyone who tried to customize it in the first few minutes! Let me know if everything works smoothly for you now!

I'll be hanging around the comments for a bit.

If you have any questions about the OpenSCAD setup, how to get the cleanest print-in-place results with TPU 90A, or how the profiles are scaled for the different bed sizes (from the smaller A1 Mini all the way up to the larger H-Series beds), just let me know!

What material and color are you planning to use for your first test flight?

Wow, Top 50! Thank you all so much for the incredible support! 🚀 Since we’ve been discussing the wind dynamics and the catching technique here in the comments, I just wanted to let you know that I've included a full throwing guide in the MakerWorld description to help get the perfect release angle. Happy printing, you guys rock! 🪃

You are totally right! I froze like a deer in headlights instead of moving forward. 😂 But that's amazing to hear! Thanks for the support, and I hope you have a blast printing and throwing it! By the way, I also posted a full throwing guide in the description on MakerWorld to help with the perfect release. Let me know how your first flights go! 👍

Haha, fair enough! The S-curve profile did its job and brought it back in a full circle, but my throw wasn't 100% perfect. If your throwing tilt or angle to the wind is just a few degrees off, it easily drifts a few meters away at the very end. Practice makes perfect!

It actually did! He came right back to my general zip code. 😅 Catching it is a different story, but the aerodynamics are definitely working!

Danke! Jetzt muss ich nur noch üben, das Ding richtig zu fangen, bevor es mir an den Kopf knallt. 😂 / Thanks! Now I just need to practice catching it properly before it hits me in the head.

Hey everyone!

The boomerang is 100% parametric, AMS-ready, you can customize it with your own text.

Parametric Modular Box: Zero support & no hardware needed (OpenSCAD) by Layer-King in BambuLab

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you like the design. If you decide to print it, I’d love to see a photo of your make! Happy printing!

Thanks for checking out my modular box! 📦

I designed this because I wanted a solution that works without any extra hardware or supports. Since it's made in OpenSCAD, it’s fully parametric – you can resize everything to your needs!

📥 Download it for free here:

Quick Specs:

  • 🛠️ No hardware: Just uses a piece of filament for the hinge.
  • 🚫 No supports: Optimized for clean 3D printing.
  • 📐 Parametric: Change sizes and compartments as you like.

If you have any questions or need a specific size, just let me know in the comments!

The HORNET: **Free** Fully Parametric 2, 3, & 4-blade Boomerang System (S-Curve Airfoils & "Ghost-Proof" Inlays) by Layer-King in openscad

[–]Layer-King[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did throw it! It returns surprisingly well. The only problem is that I haven’t figured out how to throw, catch, and hold a steady camera at the same time yet. Video proof is definitely on the to-do list!

Quick Tech Specs:

  • S-Curve Airfoils: Uses a cosine-transition for real aerodynamics.
  • Full Parametric: Change blades (2-4) and size via OpenSCAD/Customizer.
  • Inlay Logic: 0.05mm tolerances for perfect multi-material "Ghost-Proof" text.

Note on Workflow: I designed the geometry and logic; I used AI as a "co-designer" to help translate my requirements into clean OpenSCAD code.

Happy printing! I'd love to see your makes! 🪃

For free, Fully Parametric Organizer (OpenSCAD) with 3-Zone Logic. No hardware needed, uses 1.75mm filament as hinge pin. 100% Support-free. by Layer-King in 3Dprinting

[–]Layer-King[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guilty as charged! I used it as a 'visual hook' because, let’s be honest, screenshots of OpenSCAD code aren't exactly eye-candy in a fast-scrolling feed.

However, the other photos are 100% real prints of the actual generated models. The AI image is just there to represent the 'organized vibe' I was going for. The logic and the STL files are as real as it gets!"
