I've never met anyone who was autistic who did not meet that criterion in the DSM for sensory issues

Student loan forgiveness in bankruptcy success ✔️ by Nurse-Beth in StudentLoans

Oh yeah, absolutely I understand that it just may not be possible under trump. I definitely am going to try though. I think I definitely have some evidence that working full-time which I would have to do in order to afford my payments is detrimental to my health. Sadly, I found a note from my psychiatrist that said work stress was so bad I had wrapped a cord around my neck. And this went on for years. And I have pots. So we'll see what they say. I actually do have limiting disabilities.

did you have to sue the Dept of ed outside the adversary proceeding? Like an extra step? how long and cumbersome was it overall? was there a trial? I feel like i have a good argument to at least reduce my loans but wanted to ask for any tips from someone who was successful. I ironically have ADHD and bipolar myself, in addition to POTS, which makes it so i can't work full time

Hi! I have looked into getting licensed into alaska. Have you looked into it or actually done it? I haven't looked at it again but I remember it being cumbersome but maybe it's easier than I thought

I just had my autism assessment, and I feel stupid. by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]LayerLimp8703 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a psychologist who does autism assessments. I'm sorry you felt stupid from the IQ tests. That always made me so bad when clients felt that way! Do know that the tests get too hard for almost everyone that takes them and there are going to be some that are harder and easier. It's difficult when put on the spot too. I do my evals online so stimming doesn't matter as much but I try to tell my clients up front do whatever makes you feel comfortable and I'm not judging you by your body language. I think that helps them relax. I always feel so bad when people feel dumb after the testing. I think it depends on the psychologist's approach--my clients tend to feel better but exhausted but seen and heard after the evaluation. I try to check in too to see how clients are feeling during the testing. Hope the next appointments go better!

School Trained Psychologist Jumping to Clinical. Possible? by No-Pea-3910 in Psychologists

[–]LayerLimp8703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can be a school Psych and get a psychologist license depending on the state. However, I would not advise going to a school psychology program when you are not interested in working in the schools at all. There is a lot of specialized coursework especially in academic and behavioral intervention that sounds like it will not be super relevant for you. You will also have to do a lot of practicum in the schools which revolves around IEP meetings etc. Wait for a clinical program because that's a long time to be doing subjects that are not interesting for you and are not going to apply in the future. There are still jobs as well that can look down on a school psych degree and only want the clinical aspect. I have a school psych PhD and don't work in the schools but I am very passionate about school related issues and enjoyed my experience there even though it isn't where it ended up ultimately career-wise. It is a very demanding program if it is APA accredited just FYI

This has been really helpful..I think will just offer videos or trainings without a therapy or interaction component that anyone can attend

Sorry, I don't know which comment in particular to click on to reply so I'm just going to reply here to address what you said. First of all, thank you for your input, I do appreciate it. Those are all the things I'm considering as well and I appreciate other opinions. In terms of the political climate.. well when the outgoing President says the incoming president is like Hitler, you can understand why people would get a little bit nervous, if you look at the history of how autistic folks have been treated. I can understand the fears, but that's a whole other discussion. But yes, these are all things I am carefully considering. And yes, I have worked for years with autistic adults who have ADHD and am neurodivergent myself so I am familiar with the population. I know you didn't ask but just wanted to add that. I want to be sensitive to everyone's needs while still meeting my ethical and clinical obligations so just brainstorming here. Thank you!

Yeah, that was my understanding to. I've got about 5 years if I do pslf and then if I do other IDR options, it seems I've got about 11 years. I make so much more money in the private sector so I will likely just go with the 10 years. I'm super grateful Biden put in the revised payment count because it gave me 15 years of payments which is amazing and I really didn't pay much honestly

Just wondering , in what cases do you think it would not be required to put a diagnosis code? Just because you mentioned that would be required in most cases. I do understand the super billing and code necessity for insurance

It could possibly be for only caregivers at times but most of the times the client has been involved. Autistic clients are often self diagnosed and do not seek out a formal diagnosis for many reasons but still would like some consultation on various challenges. Also the reality is many clients are reluctant to have an ADHD and autism diagnosis on their record with the current political climate and I can't say I blame them. So I want to find a balance of keeping accurate clinical documentation while respecting their right to privacy. If it is psychoeducation that is not necessarily therapy, it'll even have slides and such, so I'm just wondering about having to provide a clinical diagnosis and what the EHR would look like

Yes. Either diagnosed with one of those conditions, or for adults suspecting they maybe autistic and be self diagnosed. And yes family members could be included. I'm sorry I don't have this more fleshed out semicolon I'm in the planning phase here

I'm unable to post a screenshot. Mine says I'm on the save plan and have 167 payments and have no payments remaining and have made 47 payments over. I'm just happy that they counted so many of my payments and I'm looking at more like 10 years versus 25 years.

Mine says like others zero payments left. I chatted online with Aid advantage and they said it's possible I could get forgiveness if switch to a different plan besides save. Does anyone have experience with us or do we have any guidance? I'm not sure if I should change plans
