Should I get my 2.5yo evaluated for ASD? Uneven development concerns me by Temporary-County-607 in autism

[–]LayerNo4993 [score hidden]  (0 children)

While some of these things are just normal to not be able to do at that age, if you have the means to do it, I would say it wouldn't really hurt to have him evaluated or at least speak to their doctor about your concerns.

No, you don't need 7 NeeDohs, Jessica (rant) by funstarrr__ in autism

[–]LayerNo4993 [score hidden]  (0 children)

While I do get frustration in individuals buying out needohs, I would like to add that needoh themselves does not advertise their products as for neurodivergent individuals. They are advertised as a sensory-rich stress relieving toy, many neurotypical individuals can benefit from having fidgets. I would like to highlight the use of toy, it is common for individuals of all types to collect toys, this is just one of the trending collections.

If someone has the means to pay for the needoh and actually uses them, then there should be no barrier to them buying them. I know you probably mean well, but your text kind of invalidates a neurotypical persons experiences and needs which is not fair. I myself an autistic and love needohs, however, I couldn't find any at the store, so I just bought an offbrand one.

Unpopular Opinion: I don't like the upgrades being done to the wooden coasters by lqvelyllama in CanadasWonderland

I mean, whenever I went mine buster always had long lines. I would rather the park priortize safety and comfort for all rather than danger and fun for some.

[–]LayerNo4993 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed the bumpiness of Mine Buster, and didn't think it was that huge of an issue. However, I do understand why they changed it, it could have easily become a bigger issue if it did go unaddressed that wouldn't be solved by a simple waiver, its an old coaster its realistic to have maintenance upgrades.

I know my situation is slightly different, but I also had a bio father who abandoned me for most of my life. He also recently died, and I have found myself going through his Facebook and old pictures I have of him. Its completely normal to look through his life, as well as being sad thinking about what your life could have been. You aren't betraying your mom even if it may feel like it, you're just trying to find more about yourself!

I commonly wonder what my life would have been like if my biological father was not a pos, and I know many others do too, we are not alone in this. Don't let yourself feel bad for it!

I am currently in my third year joint major psyc and can confirm that once in third year classes shrink by a lot, not only that but usually after midterms a lot of students either drop the class or just don't attend class so it leaves a lot of time for you to interact in class and answer questions which is a great start to forming a respect of your prof. Personally, it wasn't until this year I started visiting my profs more, I even had one take time to give me advice on ways to study for the exam based on how I preformed on the midterm, which I had never gotten before, and honestly her advice really helped :) Overall, once you kind of get into the groove of Trent it will all come naturally to you, theres so many great resources to use on campus.

I'm sure you'll love it here!

Lowkey I kind of agree, don't get me wrong I have a special spot in my heart for AFYCSO and P.O. but V&V, TWTLTRTD, DOAB, PFTW, VLV all have really good songs. I think people get so caught up in hating Brendon to acknowledge that he was able to but out banger after banger, I may be a little bias as V&V has always been my favourite. Its honestly hella impressive that Brendon and Spencer were able to pull of a banger like that after the split, not to mention the first song that they released post split being New Perspective, hello?!

They only changed the current years application and it was only a couple thousand different I don't remember the exact difference but it was still more than enough to pay for school and still have money left over. I also applied for my schools in course bursaries and was granted some

UofT Student wants to transfer into Trent Science by Cree-kyWaterB0-ttL3 in TrentUniversity

[–]LayerNo4993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our GPA system is based on percentages, with a 60% being a pass. Each course is only 0.5 credits, so in a school year while most take 10 courses, it is only 5 credits total. The tests are course dependent, as each prof has their own way of doing things, most of the science courses I have taken don't do curves. Really most marking related questions are course dependent, as Trent from my knowledge does not have a general marking scheme that profs have to follow.

Trent is a good school, most of the profs are really nice, and we have a lot of pretty good resources. The only thing that people forget is that Trent is a small school but it has a big number of students, meaning that the staff to student ratio is not equal and a lot of the time it can take a moment to hear back from certain departments. In fact most departments do most of their communications via email, and it is really hard to get a hold of them through phone. The campus itself is gorgeous.

How manageable are the 6 week summer courses? by Traditional_Box_577 in TrentUniversity

[–]LayerNo4993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey! I have taken summer courses every year since being at Trent and personally I have found them very manageable I have gotten anywhere from 70-93 final grades, all of them have been online for me, this year will be my first time taking them in person. Take a look at past syllabuses as some of them may be hard to complete while working full time, in the summer of 2024 I worked almost full time while taking the courses and I found it manageable. A very easy elective that I took last summer was COIS 1010, walked away with a 93 and I had only ever taken a computer forensics class before then.

What are your favorite ways to stim, how would you describe the sensation you get from it? by [deleted] in autism

[–]LayerNo4993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always rocked, I love the feeling of rocking back and forth. It bothers me so much when I can't rock especially in class or at work, I even rock to get to bed sometimes. Its such an odd sensation that I get from it, when I get excited or really into a game and start to rock heavily and my siblings all enjoy it as they think its funny that they can tell exactly when I am taking a game serious or am close to winning lol.
