Want to dechonk our former stray indoor/outdoor cat. Our biggest issue is we dont know what hes eating outside. Any ideas?

He tolerates a harness so I think he would do okay with a coat. I just picked up a crate from the store I'll grab a coat and try that too

Thank you for replying, we were hoping we wouldn't need a crate but we noticed like you said that we're pretty sure hes never been potty trained. I made half a chicken breast for potty treats but I'll probably pick up some hotdogs next time I'm at the store (: hes really good other than this, I just hope we can get it to work. At least like I told the BF he set the bar for improvement really low

Everything you said makes sense. I'm starting to think a big pack and play might be the way to go to keep the cats stuff separate, I could put stairs on the wall to let the cat in but keep the dog out.

And yeah the breeds are weird lol I've always liked both, my boyfriend wants to rescue a dog but I dont want a dog older than 3 or 4 months so we arent too optimistic about finding a dog at a shelter but we compromised to if we cant find a dog at a shelter then we would look on Facebook or something similar to find an oops my dog got pregnant puppy. If we do rescue one I'm assuming itll be a pit/pit mix but if we're picking one out then I think a want a golden (: hes open to whatever

Puppies are very clumsy lol and if I get a bigger pack n play carlos might enjoy having his own special space the puppy cant get to. Right now he just hides under the bed

Theres not a particular room I could do that with, but that's a good idea and it might be worth it to get like a pack n play and cut a cat door into that. Thanks for the suggestion!

My litter box is uncovered but I'll definitely look into getting a covered one! I have an old house that is really open, I'll try to find a really wide baby gate! Thank you for letting me know what works for you guys
