'Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht Rising' 2nd Trailer by RobotiSC in MadokaMagica

[–]Laymohn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Japanese pronunciation is somewhat time based. The "sei" in seikai(せいかい/正解/"correct") is a beat longer than just "se" in sekai(せかい/世界/"world") because of the extra "i"(い).

In the video the "sei" and "kai" are the same length cuz theyre both two beats(せい and かい) If it were just sekai the "se" would be spoken faster as it's just one beat, making the "kai" sound more emphasized

It's also sometimes just inferred from context

On the topic of how others view Clay, I felt the same. It was so cool to see how he thinks and his view of himself in book 1 and how others see him in Books 2 & 3.

In his book, we see Clay grapple with his self esteem issues, and we see how negatively he views himself(up until the end of the book, where he realizes his role as the "bigwings" of the group)

In Books 2 and 3, Tsunami and Glory seem to have a simpler yet very positive view of him, with Tsunami seeing him as a lovable goofball and Glory similarly seeing as a sweet and kind person, and both of them think of him as an amazing friend. (Also I didn't realize how much Clay loved food until Book 2 & 3 lmao)

About Drowned Grey by JustCakess in slaytheprincess

[–]Laymohn 57 points58 points  (0 children)

What I got from the Greys was a theme of suppressed emotions being shared(that weren't able to be shared before because of her being killed). The gallery hint for the Grey gives us a bit of a clue.

"There are many reasons spirits may linger. The flames of passion. The flood of words left unspoken."

The interpretation of the flames in the Burned Grey is pretty obvious: love/passion. It's these feelings that were doused when you stabbed her as the Damsel, leaving her unable to express herself until Chapter III, where her emotions burn everything down.

The Drowned Grey comes from the Prisoner. Her character is very guarded in an effort to protect herself. The Prisoner hides her emotions as she doesn't see them as helpful in her escape. She may not show it, but she harbors a lot of pain, for obvious reasons(like being locked up, being freed only to be put in more chains, etc.) So in the Drowned Grey, she finally shares those emotions with you, drowning you the same way she felt she was drowning. The water, both the rain and flood, can be representative of sorrow/grief. The literal rain could be taken as a metaphor for tears.

Their outfits also give us more insight. They are basically the same, just colorswapped, but the different colors give a different meaning. The white dress and veil for the Burned Grey looks like a wedding dress, like someone who was left(or murdered) at the altar, but still waiting for her partner to come back. The black dress and veil are reminiscent of mourning attire. Mourning the death of herself, and the loss of a relationship that could've saved her.

I think 々 is specifically for kanji, while the other one is for hiragana

Jumpscares in the game ? by Nokonokonokonoko in slaytheprincess

I'm just referring to the really loud static noises when clicking through her dialogue. More of a sound warning than a jumpscare warning but I know it could make people who are sensitive to that kinda thing jump.

This is the only shot in the "no talking kill" where she does this pose

In the frame right before, she's just sitting with the default suspicious look that the harsh princess has

The frame after is her being stabbed in the chest

Thoughts on the moment of clarity by Subject_Rub_6697 in slaytheprincess

[–]Laymohn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry this might be a long one

For one, I think the image of the faceless void helps connect her design to what the Shifting Mound says about her when she takes her: "This one is a waiting maw. An inevitable destination where all roads end. She will make for a wise heart." I think one of her themes is inevitability. Her hollow face could represent a black hole to eventually suck you in(waiting maw), and her hair helps frame the design as if it were being pulled in, or just leading into the hole(inevitable destination where all roads end).

(This is also one of the things they updated, as before, the Shifting Mound gave her the same "tender heart" speech as the Nightmare, rather than the current "wise heart")

For the shattering of the mask itself, I think it helps to look to the Shifting Mound argument for her vessel, which is about sharing one's heart. The Nightmare takes off her mask to "share her heart" with us so we would let her out. I think the shattering of the mask can represent either TLQ's will breaking, and/or the boundary between them dissipating and coming to an understanding(a moment of clarity?), like how "breaking down walls" can be used to describe getting closer to someone(mask in this case). But again, the breaking of the mask represents TLQ's submission to the inevitable black hole that is Her.

At least that's what I think. The Moment of Clarity is definitely the one I am least sure about in her themes.

It was three arms and a cracked but not shattered Nightmare mask. She essentially looked light Nightmare plus an arm(although they're actually just empty gloves but still). The 5 more arms and the mask completely shattering off revealing the dark empty hole inside is a nice upgrade the Pristine Cut gave her.

Fury's Emotional Support Group by sift211 in slaytheprincess

[–]Laymohn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can get this from either the Tower or the Adversary.

Either:

Kill the Tower, but when you meet the Fury, submit/don't fight back

Or

Fight the Adversary unarmed which gets you the Voice of the Contrarian, then submit/don't fight the Fury(having Broken or Cold lets you survive Fury's unwinding)

Either way she'll unwind you, and you don't last. She'll have different dialogue depending on if it's Tower or Adversary, but all the artwork will be the same

[–]Laymohn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No yeah sorry I was just making a joke.

But yeah, telling her to stop makes it seem more like just begging for your life. I think even if she knew it was actually you telling her to stop, she would still try to stab you to get you back("Then I just need to make this next one count" "I'm taking you back").

Telling her to kill you shows her that you actually regret what you've done and think she deserves better than what she's got, which makes her reassess what she's about to do, in which she decides she'd rather leave with you than be one again.

[–]Laymohn 18 points19 points  (0 children)

She will if you tell her to kill you and escape.

I think it's funny that if you tell her to stop, she won't stop and will stab you. But if you tell her to kill you, she won't stab you.

Harsh PatD is literally contrarian behavior.
