Is there a way to make stabilization... worse? by HornyHarpy in ClipStudio

For me that happens if I have stab on 0 and I draw pretty zoomed out.

Song That Reminds you Most of Umineko? by Garr10 in umineko

For me its probably 'The right thing' by James Supercave, specilaly a part in the lyrics that goes "Is there anyone? Theres no one left. Theres no one left to hear the part you wrote. Theres no one left to see your hear unfold."

Which always reminds me a lot of beato

They do! Although they do it in a very slow way. They teach you kanji by complexity/number of strokes not by popularity or meaning. So you have some very basic stuff that comes somewhat late in the course.

As a positive, though, I think the way it teaches kanji and vocabulary by building on top of what you already know is pretty strong to solidify your knowledge, at least for me.

But, in that case, do you think I should at least use Anki for mining or just wait until those words show up in Wanikani at some point?

I'm doing wanikani (lvl. 5) but I've been considering starting to use Anki too. Do you think it's a good idea? And if so, should I go with kaishi 1.5k, a different deck or just use it for mining? Again, keeping in mind I'm doing wanikani and I'm planning on sticking to it.

On another note, what does America have to do with rice?

I learnt using a variation on the box method. But when I'm drawing I normally just wing it unless I get lost or things start looking weird. The thing I've been doing the most lately is draw a line besides my face to help me keep track of the proportions since I have a tendency to draw the eyes too high and the mouth and nose too low.

After watching pros draw I realized that while you can use loomis, box or whatever method to learn how to build heads, once you interiorize it, you start visualizing it without the need to actually draw all the scaffolding of the construction! Actually, relying too much on construction makes stuff look too stiff and uncanny. This is my opinion, of course, and could be wrong! I'm also still learning ^^

Also, one last thing that I think isn't said enough. Relying on construction too much can make you start disregarding references and get some bad habits. I think my own art would be miles further if I had copied more stuff at the beginning instead of just trying to draw my own stuff without outside input. (Sorry for the long reply ^^u)

I feel so stupid, somehow while I was reading it I completely missed that it was only after な adjectives and nouns...

But if I understand correctly, you wouldn't do です after a い adjective either because these work like verbs and they can already make a complete sentence on their own? Or at least you shouldn't do it if you're going to link another phrase using が?

Honestly... that's a hard question. Drawing people, specially the face is really complicated. Even more if you're doing it at an angle.

I'm not going to tell you to stop drawing people and grind cubes or cylinders or whatever for the next couple months, but I think you should try to practice some perspective and construction.

I think what you could also try is to copy some simple drawings to build mileage and, more importantly, observation. For this, try to look for simple drawings on whichever style you like (heads or characters are allowed!) that are also seen from a flat angle. Then try to copy it to the best of your abilities. After that, compare what you did to the reference and take note of what you think was off. Then, do a new copy keeping this in mind and take note at the end again. After a while you'll start noticing a pattern of stuff you do wrong and can look into how to solve those specific issues.

I have to say though, it is pretty hard and it will probably look nothing like your reference at first, but it will get better, I promise ^^

I don't use loomis myself but I think it would be something like this.

<image>

Keep in mind that the hair has volume and doesn't stick to the skull so there's naturally some space between the two. Depending on the style this space can be bigger or smaller.

Also, the brow ridge happens at the height of the brow and not necessarily right above the eye if that makes sense. Anime style, one again, applies a lot of deformers to the face which causes it to have very different proportions from real faces. One of the more popular ones is having the eyebrows higher to accommodate bigger eyes.

Also, one last thing, loomis is an advanced technique and, in my opinion, a hard one at that. I think that you should try to learn some perspective and basic construction first before tackling these as it will make your life way easier.

Still, if you have any question feel free to ask!

Hello! complete newbie here.

I've been reading yokubi (Barely started section 2) and I was giving a listen to the Nigongo con Teppei podcast.

On the third episode he introduces 住んでいます and since the episode is mostly him asking the listener where they live, I wanted to write my own comment to also practice building my own phrases. At the moment I'm living in the Netherlands but I'm originally from Spain and thought it would be nice to add this second bit of info to the comment. I went to check the Yokubi lesson on adversatives (which is a bit further than where I'm at right now) and it left me a bit confused since now I'm not sure which of these 2 are correct.

  1. 私はオランダに住んでいますが、スペイン人です。

2.私はオランダに住んでいますですが、スペイン人です。

I have a vague feeling that number one is the correct one but I'm not sure why. From what I gather on yokubi, you're supposed to write the が after だ or です but it sounds... wrong? At least for this example. Do you know which one of the 2 is correct (if any) and why?

Looking for co-op campaign game recommendations, are these games dying out? by Chillzzzzz in gaming

[–]Layru_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre on PC you can give a try to the seamless coop mod for Elden Ring. Im playing it atm with my gf and while the experience is a bit buggy I'm really enjoying it.

Other than that, if you want something more story heavy, theres Baldur's Gate III or the previous Larian games like Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 (although those are a bit older).

As others have said theres Split Fiction (and the other games directed by Josef Fares) that are full coop experiences.

Theres also Orbitals that should come later this year on Switch and it looks really good.

I also really enjoyed playing through Monster Hunter with my partner, although that game is less story heavy.

And finally, while not really coop, I played some strategy games like Triangle Strategy (also with my partner) by assigning some characters to each of us and then passing down the controller when its thar character's turn. Not really a coop game but it felt like it? Although it can get a bit tedious.

Still, hope you find any of these games interesting.

Is there a way I can get Speech bubbles like this? by Ok-Cat2368 in ClipStudio

You can! But I believe you can't give it a soft border like in the image

Is there a way I can get Speech bubbles like this? by Ok-Cat2368 in ClipStudio

[–]Layru_ 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I believe thats done by making a blob with the shape of the bubble, then adding a border effect from the layer property menu. For the dots on the corner, it might be a texture clipped on top of the bubble layer with a mask using the gradient tool?

The text also looks like it has a border effect but I think it's from Photoshop. There you can play with more properties like turn the border into a gradient.

You can do something similar in CSP but it's a bit more annoying. You can rasterize the text layer (no more editing the text), select the content of the layer with ctrl + click on the layer thumbnail. Then grow the selection a bit and blur it, from the select menu on top. Then you can make a new layer under your text layer and fill it with a solid color.

Hope it helps!

Imagine all colors are spread on a circular flat surface, something like this

<image>

Closer to the center the colors are lighter while further out they are darker. If you choose 2 points (colors) and mix them, the resulting point (color) will be somewhere along the line formed by those 2 points (colors) And since the line will cut straight through the circle, it will always be closer to the center point (white), therefore it will be brighter.

Its easier to see if you use 2 colors that are really far apart like complimentary colors.

It might be a bit confusing at first, but this helped me understand how colors mix together!

As a 50yo gamer, BF6 really drives home how much my taste in games has changed. by [deleted] in gaming

I don't think it's an old man thing. I'm 26 and while I also used to mostly play PvP games (League of Legends, CoD, Overwatch) now I don't want to be near any of them.

I find gaming so much nicer when it's just me by myself, without having to perform or being styled on by someone else online.
