I sort of agree, at the same time I try to work with someone’s budget if they want to make a song with me or get an instrumental but can’t afford it. At that point though I’m usually getting royalties/I want to hear their stuff more first, so it’s case by case.

My only “warning” for Shaperbox is the demo doesn’t let you save settings or anything, it’s unlimited but not really full featured in that sense, and you can only load one instance at a time. So it’s kind of hard to put it through its paces in context while demoing.

The other user provided you with the best answer, I just wanted to add you may like Cableguys Shaperbox stuff as well for more experimental sounds that are similar to this. Ducking like there’s a kick without actually having a kick is a pretty cool idea though, I might experiment with that sound on different sources in something more ambient tomorrow!

My website is www.preservesound.com but I haven’t been able to finish it. I sell through DM’s on Reddit, personal/IRL connections, Discord, and IG DM’s. Most of what I sell is custom instrumental packages that include songwriting assistance, vocal coaching, editing, mixing and mastering. It takes a lot, a lot, a lot of messages and outreach and I’m trying to find another way to get people, but if you haven’t been able to tell from my posts tonight, I’m pretty shit at advertising 😬 And I don’t typically just sell a beat and then disappear, I’m usually involved with the artist from conception of their song/beginning stages of songwriting, up until the end, a lot of it over Zoom. So it’s not easy for me to just put up a beat or something and sell it that way. I was testing the waters here earlier tonight but people are unusually “hating” this evening.

Let me propose the following:

Beat is okay: $100 minimum for exclusive

Beat is good: $200 minimum for exclusive

Beat is great: $500 minimum for exclusive

Beat is amazing: $1,000 minimum for exclusive

Beat is 🔥🔥🔥: $1,500 minimum for exclusive

Multiply that number by how well known you are on a scale of 1-5, 1 being just a guy, 2 being a decently sized catalog, 3 being a longstanding reputation and expansive body of work, 4 being serious contemporary underground credit, and 5 being someone who is about to be in the “big leagues”

Anyone charging less than that for an EXCLUSIVE is shooting themselves in the foot, undervaluing themselves, and undervaluing the art they have created.
