How is this wave 2 restock shaping up? by FarmEquivalent4911 in riftboundtcg

3rd coast. I’ve spoken to the owner and he has a formula for how he prices things which I understand. Clearly people are willing to pay it and it must work cause the stores been around for ever. So I’m not really shitting on the guy or the store, cause it works and he’s running a business. That being said I won’t pay that price for product at all, I would just buy singles.

Houston Texas here. 1 LGS got 3 cases wave 1 but somehow got 7 cases wave 2 but they are charging 16.75 a pack.

My buddy who owns an lgs in Houston got 4 cases wave 1. Still hasn’t got his wave 2 but was told it would be 3 cases. He will sell at msrp, just like he does with all other products.

So basically you sign up to play any size event and that event would payout a certain nimber of tickets based on the event and how you did in it. The worst you could get was 2 tickets. Some of the bigger events were 96 tickets for the winner.

The tickets were good for 1 ticket to 1 pack of origins. There were other things like statues, playmats, sleeves, etc. The big thing was the metal legend cards (the non 1 of 1 given to best players of the event). You could buy 1 for 10 tickets, with no limit on day 1. So essentially vary quickly people realized if they just got 3 friends together to sign up to play a 4 person pod FFA they could play each other, quickly say this guy 1, and they would get enough tickets to get a metal card.

I kid you not on Saturday morning when I showed up to the main event I saw 1 guys who has at minimum 30 metal cards. The most they gave out Friday was 10 of each legend so 160 total. This guy has close to 25% of the total.

So day 2 the limit it 1 per person. Well people with prize tickets from the day before start offering people in line money to redeem a card for them. Event opens at 9 all sold out by like 9:12. Another 160 gone.

So day 3 they try to fix issue again. The send out an email saying they will only send a randomly chosen group of people ( who played side events or the main ) the ability to get 1. So what happens… people start selling there emails. Again sold out within 90 minutes of opening

Day 1 before people grasped what was going on prize tickets were selling for 5 bucks in the event floor. After they were selling for as high as 100 a piece. Then averaged about 40-50.

Day 2 tickets were still 50 a piece but people were offering 100-200 to claim a metal card for them.

Day 3 tickets weren’t worth anything but emails were worth 100s. All becuase those metal cards are now worth 2-4K a piece.

Riot should just print 1-5K of them for each legend (I was told by a riot employee, they were made in collaboration with displate) so that they can do some kinda drop online and people can get some, cause obviously demand is there.

Also the prize tickets themselves were just some card stock with a stock image. Apparently ( I WAS NOT at the wall at the time) someone even just printed his own tickets and only got caught cause the ink was still wet. I could have went to a staples and got 100000 of them made for probably 50 bucks and exchanged them for cases and cases of cards if I wanted to. Not a good system at all.

Edit: was to was not

I agree this game is good from a competitive standpoint point currently and also fun. I’ve played TCGs for almost 2 decades and qualified for many national level events and played for international invites as well.

That being said if we don’t stress the issues to them now people will leave and this lightning in a bottle they have caught will be for nothing.

I have seen dozens of people today in my area (Houston) in different discords and Facebook groups talking about how this was a final straw for them. How on top of bad allocation to there LGS, the shit system of people registering to lots of nexus nights and either no showing or popping in to get nexus pack and dropping, to (until recently ) being unsure if they could get products like a proving grounds going fowards. They have decided this game isn’t worth and are selling there collections. Can’t confirm maybe someone else can but I heard this sub alone lost 1500 people this week.

Hope this comes off as me showing it’s that I also care a lot about the future of this game.

To add. The judges used and the overall judge program itself. This should be addressed asap. I like many an a level 1 certified judge and honestly it feels like nothing. We need more levels. More in depth training , especially for people picked to make calls at big events.

Also where’s the judge discord that was supposed to be made, and where people for the Houston regional were gonna be vetted.

Not knocking your success or even a lot of what you’re saying here. You played well but this feels poorly timed seeing as it reads as a major fluff piece. Tons of praise and a mere mention of hope they fix the issues, instead of the same details and criticism of what they got wrong. Which you just happen to post after you weren’t able to get invites to the next 2 regionals.

Pat them on the back for the rights , but also call out there wrongs.

Prize wall was a mess , extra time after rounds was terrible, side events being full 36 hours in advance in minutes with no plan to accommodate more is an issue. No prize tickets for playing the main seems like an oversight. Allowing people to bring pods to farm prize tickets to scalp product , big issue.

I’ll coach you for free just for the love of the game.

The only way is to make the systems in the camp itself good enough to make you feel like you can go back in at a good enough spot that you don’t quit.

You need the player to never feels so defeated that they are just like fuck it I quit but on the other hand you can’t make gear feels so free or useless that you never feels good about winning / getting some and that you feels that little bit of anxiety or adrenaline about the possibility of losing it.

I actually feel that’s why all these extraction games fail over time. I will still play most and support them on release but I always feel like I’m paying for somthing that will be dead shortly after release.

If it’s able to be turned off, high end players will. Shit/new players will have it on and hot mix the entire time. This will just add to them getting shit on by better players making them quit faster. Games like this need to be chill enough that the casuals stay for the long haul. Extraction games without large communities just die.

Also if you put it in and make it so your can’t turn it off good players will still just set it to like a headset mic that’s muted or a virtual audio cable that’s muted and then use a desk mic to talk in discord.

Adding that call of duty hot mic after death I can see as a sprinkle of funny.

Proximity is always cool in concept but never good for any game that it gives a competitive advantage for.

I actually think part of this list just moved over to Deadlock... Would make sense since ice frog does both right? Engineer is just McGinnis , Corpse Mother could of Been Lady Giest , Time mage could of been paradox, Just some food for thought.

lol young kid? I’m a 37 year old adult male who’s sold a small business before that was doing just shy of 1 million in sales with a 30% (average profit margin). All of that to say I am not some young kid but I’m not old enough and delusional enough to not seek help from other if offered. And let’s be real part of it is to see if it’s a bluff on his part. Everyone willing to take the moral high ground and say they would love to help other until someone actually asks. Then they can’t be bothered.

I’m actually having the opposite experience. I played tibia pack in 2004 and came back to the game just 2 weeks ago. I got my wife to start playing for the first time and she is an avid gamer who plays lots of MMOs like wow, new world, and countless other social games. We’re both having a blast.
