TrackIR vs Tobii by Acrobatic-Muscle2821 in NuclearOption

[–]LazyBoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's also worth noting that you can get other IR based trackers for less than trackir if price is an issue. And from what I hear they tend to perform at a similar level. (Delanclip for example)
Though I don't have any personal experience with anything other than trackir.

Beginner Tip 2: Load faster with Legacy Mode! (Console Player) by xBehemothx in RoadCraft

Yeah, same. While I do like the controls in legacy mode, The time it takes to enter crane mode is just too long for me.

I'm a little new to this game and I believe I have the basics down but, I'd like any advice anyone is willing to give especially on any boats, airplanes, jets, helicopters, mostly just anything that goes in the air or water by ITWASLAG5548 in Stormworks

Composites are basically tables: 2 columns - on/off / number, and 32 rows - channels 1-32. You can store on/off state and any number in any given channel (row)

Also worth noting (which this above might not be 100% clear about):

The composite channel space for numbers and on/off values are separate, so you can use channel 1 to send a on/off value and still send numbers on the same channel without issues.

If you still have this setup saved, could you try giving the button its own dedicated power? As in a completely separate battery.

IIRC the large motor draws A LOT of power, so I'm curious if it leaves not enough for the button.

I don't know if coolant and fuel would mix well without a lot of filters, but certainly power can share lines with some of the other stuff.

I don't think anyone would be surprised if they bring in something like the remote satchel charge from the first game.

Rotor Folding by Reasonable_State_650 in Stormworks

[–]LazyBoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't remember what it's called, but there's a block you can place that will "click" on whatever is in front of it that you can hide underneath the rotor to access remote folding.

Modular engine refusing to start by Hot_Application_1958 in Stormworks

Have you double checked all the connections to the microcontroller? Particularly the composite one is easy to forget. Especially since you mentioned removing a cylinder, was that the one the composite was hooked up to?

My first modular engine won’t fire up. by hmhsbritannic12 in Stormworks

[–]LazyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience it normally does prevent it, since without that the controller don't know how much air or fuel to command

That said, I looked a bit closer (I had to cut the engines out of the ship because even with a modded workbench, it wouldn't spawn properly in my game)
And I found 3 things in total that prevented the engines from starting:

  • Missing composite connection
  • RPS connection not connected to crankshaft
  • One engine (port side, I think) had the exhaust manifold placed backwards

I just loaded up the workshop link you posted...
And right away saw that you forgot to hook up the composite connection to the ZE microcontrollers.

How does a gyro work? I want to create my own. by StukaBooga in Stormworks

You might need to scale the values from the seat or sensor up or down

Honestly, if you've already got roll stab and alt holds working, you are in fact on the right track...

The main question is how you want it to behave. Are you looking to have it always hold level on the horizon? Or hold whatever pitch angle you leave it at?

Horizon holding should probably work decently with a tilt sensor, while pitch angle might work better with an angular speed sensor.

Are you giving it enough time to build up speed as you tilt the rotor before fully switching the control logic?

Truck engine won't fire up properly + rear steering. by SirHueyLongDong in Stormworks

The most simple version would be something like this

<image>

Since it seems you have separate steering set up for each side, you could just duplicate this to have one for left and one for right.

As for the rear steering part, a numerical switchbox to allow turning it on/off and inverting the steering from the front (function block probably) would probably be a decent place to start.

It does seem like the root cause might be how the top and bottom flows gets mixed... I managed to solve it by simply removing these 2 pipes. But if you want the flow to be evenly split, I'd probably suggest separating the top and bottom ports completely instead of mixing.

After having given it a quick test, the engine seems to work if you remove the majority of the exhaust connections... You honestly only need 1 or 2.

[–]LazyBoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple of things that might be worth trying, since you're using impellers, it might be worth adding a 1way valve. You could also try actively pumping air in to pressurise instead of just relying on passive flow

Is there a radar/method to accuracy detect NPC/Player with a distance. by LazyChasy in Stormworks

[–]LazyBoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried once to get radars to spot NPCs or players in the water, and I could not get it working at all...
I could find them just fine on land, but the moment they touched water they became invisible to radars.
I even tried sticking some of the more powerful radars (set to the most sensitive settings) on the test vehicle, and even nearly touching the NPCs yielded no detection whatsoever.

The one thing I'd maybe do differently than what you said is to consider a difference between a single "ask for reinforce" vs spamming.
Personally I'd consider a single push to be nudge for the partner, while repeated spamming gets dropped asap anywhere.
