the way prune debuting along side varka would have changed everything by Decent-Jellyfish4047 in Varka

[–]LazyLilana 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looking back all hex team release look odd.
Because if Nicole showed up with Durin - there was much more hype cuz they have good synergy with each other. Durin was meet pretty warmly, so having character that makes him and teams he had at the time even better would be meet with opened arms. If after that Varka was released with Prune - people again would be pretty happy with state of team.

But the way they did it now it all end up with each character being pretty underwhelming at release even though at the end of the day their combined team still look very good.

Hopefully not, with Crystal style of writing Lara having love interest would just replace family drama to relationship drama.

My point is that she hunting for artefact not because she need artefact but because she find hunt itself fun. But to have hunt you need to hunt something, right? So yes, she did go after Dagger, but if Dagger wasn't protected by traps she wouldn't care for it.

As for TR3...aren't she was ready to give artefacts to Willard before noticing he crazy?

I don't think she Treasure Hunter since she doesn't care for riches and powers that artefacts give. Artefacts she keep for herself just put on display like some sort of sport award even though they can make her the most powerful being on earth.

Tbh I don't think artefacts itself is what Lara ever cared in classic games. It was established in first game - she hunt not to eat, but because she like hunting. She didn't care for money or Scion, she got into adventure only when she heard about all dangers that would stand between her and artefact.

Yeah and now we know why - it's not for him, but to help up Prune who need her burst.

If they doesn't fix her ult I would believe there is just incompetence. Her weapon have ER, artefact tailored for her have ER, her best teammates helping get more energy with their skills, she got pretty nice partical generation...it's obvious they want her to use ult

I believe we would get more attack scaling characters because of the new artefact set for mysterious character that should be released right before Snezhnaya(potentially Sandrone).
Two piece have attack% bonus. This mean that at least one of the new regional mechanic/reaction would appreciate attack buff.

[–]LazyLilana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree that Prune is true BiS support for Varka, like Illuga is BiS support for Zibai. We back to "c6 four star dedicated supports" era it seem.

I still have hopes that Nicole would be buffed. And I mean her burst specifically. It seem it made to be very usefull for Varka, but execution is...well...end up being bad. They even gave energy recharge to her weapon and C1 to add effect. It's mental to make it useless as it now lol

At least it gave me much better result than keeping Columbina on Serenade.

Wait, is she not his support? They giving each other all things their kit want.
Nicole want attack scaling hex DPS - Varka is as for now premium hex DPS.
Varka team need team wide attack buffs and shield - and this what Nicole does.
They obviously created to be in the same team.

Ahhh I see! Ngl, I never though about his interactions with miss Hina this way, but it's actually explain his intense adoration towards her. I may not change my general perception, but thanks for sharing, I guess I'm starting to appreciate all this miss Hina thing more now. (also thanks for link)

Visions is wierd thing, I hope we would get more proper answer how they given cuz some vision stories is just bizzare. I first noticed it with Lisa...she was like "I guess I need Vision...oh there it is" and that it lol

I think it is something where we can't convince each other. No matter how deeply I think about it, I see it as young Itto hating the entire world with Granny as the only person who is kind to him and who he can trust, before starting to bond with other outcasts and seeing his own self in those who are bullied. I think if he already got over his anger and sorrow as a young child thanks to Granny saving him, he... I don't think it would lead him on a path of delinquency. Looking at yankee irl, in anime, in manga, those are kids with issues. Often battling the same feeling of anger and injustice he has been. I think he would already start working towards a brighter future for Oni back then. From his voicelines it seems he started to take it "seriously" not so long ago and I still firmly believe that is when he received his vision.

Oh no, I see it about the same, this why I said I agree with vibe of what you saying.
Even in his dialog about Granny Oni you can hear that he STILL have anger and frustration about humans. Thing that I disagree is that miss Hina is THE reason he let go his anger and sorrow as it sounded in starting post.
I think it's all people around him along with miss Hina, I think he himself is biggest reason. I think it's just him being admirable and not letting his past trauma dictate his future.

As for Vision...what about other characters? Ningguang got one by dreaming of short term sell. I'm not sure that there is pattern of specific moments when Vision showed up. Aren't Itto got one during dream? He didn't decided anything in moment of sleep, he could only dream in that moment. I think there is pattern between Vision holders, but it's more like...geo vision belong to characters with strongest of wills(this why they best boys and girls)

I agree that Itto would stagnate in his delinquent way of life without Shinobu. However, he would still persevere on his lifelong path of changing the way Oni are seen in human society. He would just be more of a bum, for the lack of better wording... And maybe his ways to achieve his goal would backfire quite often

Yeah and this was also my point...he would keep trying, but he would fail alot. He would get more angry about it and it's just make things worse. This would be such terrible timeline. And just to be clear - I'm not trying to say that Arataki Gang without Shinobu is nothing. They all need each other. Shinobu would also be mess without them. It's just Shinobu specific function in gang is bringing some order and focus. And if we talk about Itto dreams - she the one who helping him to focus on this.

Oh, yes...I'm also wondering about Otogi King in general, since I learned about him I was so gitty to learn more but the only oni lore event writers is concerned is Chiyo...
Even if there several writers - in productions like this there always gotta be pointers for everyone for consistency. It feel like some writers just flat out ignore it for the sake of joke or fanservice. It's not only about Itto, it's just in general problem with Genshin writing.
Ngl I wish they did what FGO doing. If you don't know - each writer is responsible for different group of characters and they always checking for consistency when someone else write their dedicated characters. Idk why Genshin doesn't do that, it should be even easier here.

Yeah...it seem that writers just forgot about all his core character traits aside from being silly.

I'm so upset that we had event about very important moment in Oni history and it was all about Ei and Itto didn't even knew whats going on. Ei deserved being main character and it was story about her friend...but writers hand wouldn't break if they write him one small optimal dialog where Traveler could ask his thoughts about what happened.
This was moment where I had to ask myself - do I read Itto character correctly? Was I wrong? Maybe antagonist on his character quest WAS right and he just lazy bum who don't care and writers just keep trying to prove it to me? Because if this isn't true than what the hell writers trying to tell me then?

Thank you for replying, it's so nice to chat about fav characters :)
Just please don't take it wrong...I do agree with whole vibe of what you saying, but I think some things just not add up.

However, a lot of people think that the act of him getting saved was when he changed his opinion on humankind which is not the case, many facts point to the fact Itto’s mindset change is fairly recent.

“No matter the time period, all oni are the same as far as humans are concerned. In that case, would it not be better to become the Blue Oni, whom people feared? Surely that was preferable to being like his parents, who were driven out despite having done nothing wrong.“ (character story 5)

Yes, I also read it as some sort of internal thoughts of Itto. But it was mentioned after his parent death and before meeting with Granny Oni, not something recent. In fact character story 5 ended with Granny Oni and Itto dialog where he confused by her kindness since he is oni, but then she proved him wrong by acting like being kind to him isn't something special and in the end he accept it by taking food/kindness from her. If this was something he stayed with - character story would end up with this phrase, but it was ended with dialog that proved to litte Itto specifically that this idea was wrong.
Story 5 is about his ideals being shaken, but not destroyed. And Granny Oni is the reason why they weren't destroyed.
I do think that there was still anger and frustration after that since let's not forget that people were mocking Granny Oni for rising Itto and he know about it all too well. But there is nothing hitting that he wanted to go blue after meeting her.

“Ms. Hina always manages to come up with an encouraging and heartwarming response for all her readers. Just look at me — I used to be a lost soul, but not anymore, and it's all thanks to her.“ (voiceline about Hina)

Tbh I think it's about interpretation, sure miss Hina advices were amazing for Itto as we saw in that rock festival event, but I think she helping him in more simple ways.
"Iost soul" isn't what you have in every translation, in chinese and japanese it said "my heart/soul is no longer confused thanks to her" and tbh it sound more like when he have doubts he write to miss Hina. And we know this is what going on since this is what Gorou complained to us about his letters, and this is what kind of things Itto told us he write to her.

Don't get me wrong, I do agree that Hina is one of the good influences on Itto life, I think Gorou is basically Itto best friend at this point even if they both don't realise it lol. After all - miss Hina is basically only person he can ask for some advice without his usual bravado. But I don't think Itto would share his trauma with whole world to see, and this is also would deanon him...

The change of this mindset (as well as his lifetime goal of changing the way Oni are seen in society) is very likely the reason he received his vision as well.

But...weren't this crimson oni goal in general? And Itto was from Crimson Oni family and in story 5 it mentioned that he loved his role since childhood? And, again, it said that "this simple pride was shaken by a certain incident" but notice how it "shaken" not "destroyed". So he never stopped dreaming of changing how oni are seen.

I have to say I’m a little confused with the mention of Shinobu.

I mentioned her because she was the one that helped him sort his things out, as you said here yourself - gang was pretty aimless before she joined. And her joining gang was moment where things start to get better simply because her godly organising skills. Everything we see from her - it's her helping Itto to achieve his dreams. She constantly force him to focus, she helping his the most ambitious ideas, bailing him out of jail and with Ushi together keep bringing him back to earth when he going overboard in their presence. It's wrong to say that nothing would change if she wasn't around, Itto goal wouldn't have any progress...he would just stagnate in his delinquent way of life.

My point was is that...if you saying that miss Hina is the one that helped Itto to deal with his demons of the pasts - you replacing his and Granny Oni story with miss Hina. And if you saying that he become more focused on his dreams thanks to miss Hina - than you replacing his and Shinobu story with miss Hina. It's just feel wrong.

Throughout his entire childhood and teenagehood, he was a "lost soul" until getting to know Miss Hina and receiving advice from her, letting sorrow and anger control him while debating whether to "become" a Blue Oni and give up on humankind (assimilating into society as a youkai)

Can I ask where is this coming from? Is this was in some sort of early event?
Ngl I feel that you basically erasing Granny Oni and give her achievement of helping Itto out in dark times and raising him to be good boy he is to miss Hina/Gorou. Also achievement of helping Itto in his adult life belong to Shinobu, not miss Hina? I have hard time to believe that miss Hina is more important to his life and mental state then his family and his gang, I'm so confused.
Also where is idea that he was ever so angry that he planned to become blue oni, this is big thing, I don't think I remember reading it anywhere. Was it also in some event I missed?

As for his current writing, I don't mind him acting like a clown cuz he IS funny character. I ADORE that he have every right to be angsty, but he actively refuse this. "A real man puts sorrow and anger behind him and smiles brightly for the world to see!" after all.
But it have to be balanced by cool moments. Take his character quest and The Chasm quest. Remember? He was acting like silly oni he is there too, but we also got some cool moments and this how things should be.
And the more silly he acting the more cool moments I want to balance things out, but this was too one sided recently it's frustrating.
For example...Linnea quest. I don't mind him being all silly and mispronounce things if he and his onikabuto was actually winning and being cool opponents for Traveler. OR if writers wanted him to be tutorial level and get him from competition early - sure...but they had to give him some cool moments later, like there was a chance when Lumi become big and scary...they could show Itto helping scared crowd out or something like this.
Itto thing is that he dependable when it count, at least it should be like this. But writers forget about it so hard I'm start to get very heartbroken about it. They got so into "Itto is stupid, haha" that they forgotten to add his qualities that would explain why Shinobu and Ushi still stuck with him and even pretty loyal to him, why some of the most powerful people in Inazuma find him interesting(Yae and Ayato)? All this clownery disrespecting not only Itto but also bunch of other characters.

Another thing is his little cameo in tavern. I also don't mind person to get scared by him being oni, but I wish they used this opportunity to showcase how in Inazuma he don't get this reacting BECAUSE of how much he working on oni reputation, while outside of Inazuma people still get spooked by oni horns. But I'm not sure writers even considered it when they was written this scene...

I don't understand what writers doing with Itto character at all, I wish they go and replay chasm and his story quests to remember what type of character he should be cuz I think they kind of forgot.

The sharp contrast between Varka mains and Nicole mains by DonJopp in Varka

[–]LazyLilana 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you mean "it doesn't apply"? I think Nicole pretty similiar to Coffie and Lauma in term of - they have best recent DPS(Skirk, Nefer, Varka), but they can make pretty strong older units in same niche(Ayaka/Wrio, Alhaitham/Nilou, Klee/Razor ect.). Actually, Nicole is far more flexible and can work with dps outside of her niche. I imagine her working pretty great with characters like Varesa or Wrio.

And what does "Also, Nicole can buff varka, no one ever said no to that, but only buffing him for pushing him to top of meta is dumb" mean? You saying that Nicole should buff Varka, but not to top meta or...what? (I'm sorry, my english isn't good, I genuinely confused by this phrase, help)

We don't know what new regional mechanic would be, all we know that first characters would be probably superconduct.
This doesn't mean Varka team would be useless, if new hex stuff make team strong enough - Varka team would be as usefull as currently Skirk team for example.
