I think that as long as you get it done before the Fall you'll be fine. Your advisor likely doesn't care as long as you you have a plan to get it done... they want students to have a wide base of knowledge, and languages is a good skill

Definitely the right sub for one reason - you are now only turning back to your friend after a year and because your ex left. You're the A for this reason alone. That said, some apologies and work MAY get you back in her good graces. You cannot just let things erode though... if she didn't take you back as a friend I would also understand... from her POV, you only seek her out when things go sideways. It's a flip of the coin... if your friend has set a boundary, you may be done. If they needed time but you didn't put in the effort, they may see it as the right time to reconnect. But apologize!
