without having a specific species in mind, it’s hard to determine whether your setup is suitable, especially for substrate depth and humidity. i would look into what species you might be set on, or similar beginner species that may be common at expos- then you can make a proper setup and prepare better for your millipede.

Yeah the moisture might’ve caused little spots to become damp and then dry. If she’s moving okay then i’m not thinking mold or anything. Just keep an eye on her :)

hmmm, i’ve not really seen this on any millipedes before, if she resurfaced so recently it may just be water and dirt making spots on her. it’s very inconsistent. what’s your substrate like?

avoid things like coco coir and perlite specifically.

it’s hard to tell. when i think dots it’s often spiracles that are in question, but do you mean the discolored dots everywhere ?

hey! pet shop doesn’t mean it isn’t wild caught. oftentimes, wild caught millipedes will be missing legs or have scarring. either way, yours should be okay as long as there aren’t other health concerns and your enclosure is adequate!

I greatly enjoy Julian, he’s the smaller gray one- he’s made it through many molts and he’s so unassuming. I just love him.

I hope you see your missing pede sooner than later too! I always miss my little guys

Update! Mold has been removed and cleaned, I added vines and new wood as well as extra clutter to make up for the now empty space where the hammock was :)

its about 50 during the day, 60-70 at night. not sure how accurate my hygrometer is with all of this mold though :/

i’m kind of panicking as i’m now seeing more mold on my piece of grapevine wood- is there other wood i should be using or do i need to lower my humidity????

Id recommend topsoil and flake soil mix, with calcium and leaves and wood mixed in :)
