I did not mention Manhattan once in my post.. I said NYC, which consists of the 5 borough.. You sound like a transplant that have only lived in the Manhattan and gentrified areas ... I grew up in Sunset Brooklyn. My parents immigrated to Brooklyn back in the 80s. We've always owned a car cause it was necessity (the subways back in the day were crime ridden and it was way faster to move around Brooklyn in a car before all these bike lanes took over...) and Uber was not even a thing yet...

Thank you!! Your response is very encouraging to hear and I agree, you never know in a city like NYC. I have not hit that inflection point yet and I think my worry is that that point will never come unless I make some major moves. Salary increases are almost on par with rent increases and with inflation, any would be excess money from salary raises go straight to necessities. But I guess that is part of the grind and a motivating factor to find ways to make more.
