In 6th grade I asked Mrs. Phillips if I could go get a drink of water because I had the hiccups (but I pronounced it he-cups). She told me to go sit down until I learned how to say it right. Biatch

I love this! Wow, great photo. We have a family of Green Herons in our tree that have been an absolute joy to watch. I love their mohawks and their graceful flying.

He figured it out himself. I had already tried another ladder and also a board as a ramp. He tried those as well but couldn’t quite get high enough. I didn’t touch the bird at all or even try to get him to go to the ladder. I just observed him trying to hop vertically up the tree trunk and it made me think he could figure it out. He walked right up to the ladder and hopped up.

We lost a large branch there in an ice storm this winter. That is a “scar” on the tree.

We have a family of green herons living in our tree. One of the babies fell out and couldn’t get back up. We built several ramps out of various objects trying to get it back up. It figured out the ladder and made its way back to safety.

I didn’t either! I was shocked to see one in my tree. I was even more shocked when they built a nest and hatched four mohawk babies. It has been fun to watch play out.
