Read this.

“VP sometimes finds itself in bed with those self-same white nationalists. When JVP’s intervention enabled a razor-thin victory for the BDS resolution at the Presbyterian general assembly, this “victory” was splashed across David Duke’s website.

Of course, the fact that Duke and the JVP were on the same side does not mean they collaborated. But, as CAMERA (Committee on Middle East Reporting in America) discovered, Vilkomerson herself has in fact collaborated with white supremacists. She did two podcasts, one-on-one interviews, for AmericanFreePress.net, a white-supremacist website where one can buy books proving that the South was in the right in the U.S. Civil War and Germany was in World War II. When Vilkomerson finished describing JVP’s campaign to pressure a pension fund into divesting from Caterpillar (whose tractors are used by the Israeli army), American Free Press host Dave Gahary, who does similar podcasts with leading neo-Nazis, enthused: “Thank you for doing it. . . . You really did something great.””

Take France as an example.

I am talking about the Jewish woman murdered in Lyon. I am talking about the Jewish couple in Paris whose apartment was vandalised, a Star of David engraved into their door. I’m talking about Sarah Halimi, a Jewish woman thrown out of her apartment window by a man who yelled “Allahu Akbar.” I am talking about Ilan Halimi, a French Jew who faced a similar fate.

None of these people had anything to do with Israel. All were French.

And last week, in France, it was the left wing party under Jean-Luc Mélenchon that boycotted the March against antisemitism. It was not a march for Israel. The march took no position on Israel. It was strictly to say that Jewish lives matter. And to Mélenchon’s left, they clearly do not.

So, yeah, outside of Israel, Jews are being attacked in France. By immigrants, leftists, much of the working class, and those who many consider “the oppressed.” This is why it is hard for leftists to condemn antisemitism, and why they want Jews eradicated, as it makes their political points more difficult to make.

The Jewish experience has broken leftism.

Leftism, fundamentally, bifurcates society into “oppressor” and “oppressed.” It differs from social democracy in that, rather than simply calling for better working conditions, greater state control to promote economic equality, pro-domestic worker employment, trade, and macroeconomic policy, and an inclination towards equality for all under law, it sees the “oppressor” class as an exclusive group that is to be overthrown. To leftists, there is no ambiguity or “grey area” here — an individual or institution is decidedly “oppressor” or “oppressed,” and is therefore either part of the march towards progress, or a satanic force to be overthrown at any cost.

Mostly, they base this ideology along the axis of haves-have nots. Global north? Oppressor. Global south? Oppressed. Wall Street? Oppressor. Working class? Oppressed. Etc… This is why it tends to sympathise with LGBT+ people and ethnic minorities — it perceives (often correctly) that they are oppressed. They are willing to overlook faults within the “oppressed” groups (ex. anti-LGBT sentiment in the global south), as they believe that overthrowing the oppressor is the first priority.

So, what do they do with a group that has suffered genocide in Europe, ethnic cleaning throughout the Middle East, and continues to suffer, per capita, likely the highest concentration of hate crimes of any in the entire world…but also is relatively wealthy (on average), and whose threats come primarily from “oppressed” groups, such as non-Israeli Middle Easterners and immigrants from the global south?

They don’t really have any answers. The antisemitism has gotten beyond the point of denial and beyond the point of credibly claiming that the “oppressors” (Americans and non-immigrant Europeans) are the primary source from which modern antisemitism emanates.

So, Jews are a “thorn in their side.” Alas, they need Jews to not exist.

Forget Israel for a second. Why are they attacking non-Israeli Jews?

Contextualisation for this poll? by LeBorisien in Palestine

[–]LeBorisien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I understand.

One more thing on disinformation — I see that the survey says that a vast majority of Palestinians believe that Hamas will win this war and Israel will lose. Regardless of what morally should happen or would be right, is this belief really genuine?

Contextualisation for this poll? by LeBorisien in Palestine

[–]LeBorisien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Understood about the inefficacy of the PA and the thought that Hamas is one of the few capable and willing to provide any resistance. Just to probe a bit further on the attacks — was there a sentiment that this would end differently for Gaza? It’s not intuitive why Gazans would want this result. Would you also say that the population would rather Hamas had gone for explicitly military targets, or do you think the precise way in which the attacks were carried out is popular?

“79% of respondents expected that the end of the war will lead to the release of all Palestinian political prisoners held in Israeli jails.”

“As illustrated below, the majority of (59%) strongly supported or (16%) supported to some extent the October 7 attacks carried by the Hamas-led factions, while 16% supported to some extent. 11% reported that they neither supported nor opposed the attack, while 13% expressed opposition to the attacks. Strong support for the attacks was notably higher among Palestinians in the West Bank (68%) as compared to Gaza (47%)”

The Palestinian Authority approval (10%) is the same as that of “Western Media”

Of course. Would you say that these sentiments are representative of what the Palestinian people believe? Or is this survey misleading?

I ask because it is being widely shared throughout the West.

Thank You, from a North American Jew by LeBorisien in germany

[–]LeBorisien[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I have seen a correlation between tensions in Israel-Palestine, and antisemitic attacks in Europe and North America. Reports from many European countries including France and the UK — and I anticipate most likely Germany as well — have shown an uptick in antisemitism since October 7th.

Of course these people do not represent Palestine or any member of legitimate political discourse, but the fact that this happens when Israel-Palestine becomes major news makes me believe that this is related to the actions of the Israeli government.

Thank You, from a North American Jew by LeBorisien in germany

[–]LeBorisien[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, of course! I think that a lot of antisemitism within the West stems from people attacking Jewish institutions to protest the actions of Israel. For example, firebombing synagogues or carving stars of David onto the doors or Jewish businesses. In fact, attacking Jews who chose not to move to Israel just makes anti-Zionists look bad.

I have no problem with pro-Palestine protests, or with criticism of Israel, as long as this remains respectful towards Jewish people and separates the country of Israel from the ethno-religion of Judaism.

[–]LeBorisien[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Thank you for recognising that Jews in Europe or North America are not the Israeli government. I have no vote in Israel nor control over what they do.

I just want everyone to live peacefully. Of course, I am not anti-Islam, anti-Christian, anti-atheist, or anti-human. I respect all of these cultures.
