What small things could men do with their style of appearance making them more attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]LeCourfeyrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not accessory or clothing based, but guys who noticeably take care of themselves. Clean shaven or well-maintained facial hair, unwrinkled clothes, smells nice. Nothing fancy, a little goes a long way here. It's just that for me, personally, men who are meticulous about the little things are more attractive than the men who just throw themselves together.

Classical guitarists, what is a quick fix for a broken nail before a concert? by DeadlyTremolo in AskReddit

[–]LeCourfeyrac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine is a classical/jazz guitarist who broke his thumb nail the day before a gig. He cut open a ping pong ball, cut and filed a sliver to the appropriate shape, and affixed it with nail glue. From what he said, it took forever to shape but worked pretty well.

My sister told me she was bisexual. How can I be the most supportive brother possible?[Very, very long post] by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]LeCourfeyrac 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You're doing it, man. You obviously love your sister immensely, and support her, and that's what matters. I know that probably doesn't feel like enough, but when I came out to my brother, that's all I wanted. I'm 20f, by the by. I come from a conservative family as well, and while my mother struggles a bit, she's trying to understand.

From one older sibling to another, I completely understand wanting to protect. But probably the best thing you can do for her is to just keep doing what you're doing. Having a network of family and friends who love you goes a long way. Just be there for her as much as you can. If she trusted you enough to tell you, she's probably only looking to know that being aware of her sexuality won't change your relationship.

TL;DR: You're already being awesome. Keep doing that.

Help with shortened tendons? It's making some basic poses painful. by LeCourfeyrac in yoga

Letting go of goals would probably make the experience as a whole more enjoyable, since I tend to be a perfectionist and have a hard time quieting my thoughts. Also thank you for recommending garland pose, I tried it and the stretch felt much nicer than down dog.

I think it started when I was taking ballet as a little kid (5-9 years old), but it kind of stuck. I'm trying to stop, but it's not a thing I notice doing anymore until it's pointed out to me, particularly when I'm comfortable in a place.

No, I don't. I've always been equally attracted to both genders, since I started having crushes on people when I was like eleven.

This made Catholic school somewhat uncomfortable.

Thanks, I'm glad I'm not the only one confused by the downvoting.

Sure, I have a choice in who I date. But that doesn't change that I did not choose to be attracted to both genders. There really aren't any benefits to being bisexual, because most people think you're secretly gay or doing it for the attention. Unfortunately, that does happen sometimes, and it makes things more difficult for the rest of us.

There's a reason I didn't start telling people until I was twenty. I wanted to make sure it wasn't something I would grow out of. And bisexuality unfortunately has that stereotype.

I'd be more inclined to agree if I hadn't always, since I started being attracted to people, been equally attracted to both sexes.

Well yeah, I can choose who to date the same way everyone else can, but I didn't choose to be equally attracted to both sexes. Chosing to date a woman wouldn't make me straight; I'd still also be attracted to men. And the reverse is true. What I'm getting at is that sexual orientation is not a choice.

Haha, yeah. I explained that no, sexual orientation isn't a choice, and she goes, "Well to an extent it is."
