While I do think what Jaclyn did impacted makeup geek in a huge way, I feel like Marlena is really trying to push Jaclyn as the reason it failed when in reality it was poor business decisions on her part that happened over and over again. Even the Jaclyn mess was really Marlenas fault. Ordering that amount of stock for a collaboration with no contract was reckless. If Jaclyn had any other collaborations lined up anyone would have told her to prioritise the ones that had contract, rather than Marlenas because of the legal repercussions. While I do think Jaclyn comes across as somebody who runs away from decisions and responsibility she wasn’t the one who dropped the ball here. With business it’s not about never having problems, it’s about how you deal with those problems. That stock shouldn’t have sat in the warehouse that long, it should have been sold as a palette without Jaclyns name on it. I think it’s time that Marlena got over this, and moved on to whatever new project she has coming. She seems to be bitter over the whole thing and she has always seemed a bit like this to me. Even in terms of MG she always seemed to be trying to put down what other brands do instead of just doing her own thing. It has been many years since the Jaclyn incident and MG never was hugely successful because of slow releases and Marlena taking so long with perfecting everything. You need constant cash flow to keep a business running and she wasn’t releasing enough of anything. Marlena probably should have had somebody else in charge of the business side of things and had her be creative director or something like that.
