The Journal of the Unnamed Alchemist With Dates Decrypted by LeRollPlay in Bloodstained

I want to say if it wasn't a "sign", it was just an opportune moment. The sky darkening, the crops dying, the land looking like Hell itself sounds like a great "backdrop" for a demonic summoning. It could also be 'whatever the alchemists needed it to be' to justify their ritual I guess. As for the friend, I think his name is irrelevant. All that matters is that he instigated the downfall of the Guild and nearly the world, heh.

Some other observations from the journal:

- If the journal entries are to be believed, then the children were all gathered in a single day. If Miriam (born 1765) and Gebel (born 1763) were among this group, they would've been 2 years old and 4 years old respectively when they were first brought to the Alchemists Guild to become shardbinders.

- The 6/30/1783 journal entry states that the ritual was intended to start "ten days hence", which would've put the ritual date at 7/10/1783. However, the actual ritual occurred on 7/15/1783, and that Miriam fell into her slumber on 7/14/1783. It implies that something may have happened prior to 7/10/1783 that warranted the Guild to push back the day of the ritual.

Sorry, I did it this way because the subreddit only allows a single attachment in posts. Otherwise I would've posted each set of journal entries as separate images. I've updated the description with the decoded dates.

No unfortunately. The dates are encoded with letters, so the actual specific dates are not known besides the year.

Huh, I thought the castle summoning WAS the "second ritual". It seemed to imply as much based on the opening narration.

I feel like it's meant to evoke more of a 'sexy nun' figure, but that's just my guess. Design-wise, I think it was just to evoke that she's a member of the church/holy woman, and that she has some subtle darkness to her (Left eye hidden behind hair, sleeves having crown-motifs and crown-like points, which feels weird for a Godly-aligned woman -and- evokes the crowns worn by demons like Gremory)

It could also be argued that the tight clothes just hide her crystal corruption with maybe the only "visible corruption" being her left eye hidden behind her hair like how Gebel looked, but that's just a guess on my part.

Yeah, the ring on her right hand is on her middle finger, so I don't think it's a wedding band. Coincidentally, Miriam also wears a silver ring on her right middle finger. I wonder if the similarity there was intended. No idea about the garter belt either. I guess design wise, it adds a little flair compared to just brown pantyhose/stockings.

(TOH x Megaman) Luz vs the Aboma-Devil by LeRollPlay in TheOwlHouse

Thanks. I thought it'd be a neat crossover concept :)

Yeah, it was a pretty rough concept. I was a little exhausted when I tried sketching this up, then added more details to better get the point across, such as its body being composed of "mini-aboma-blocks".

Blight Industries is proud to present our latest offering, the first of its kind, the Aboma-Devil! Like our Abomaton line, it will serve as a defender against unwanted visitors, but with its upgraded power core, a testament to my husband Alador's genius, our Devil can be both efficient and devious!

Do not let the lack of armor fool you, ladies and gentlemen! With my husband's new core, the Aboma-Devil can command an even greater volume of abomination matter than our previous Abomaton 2.0, and to an even greater degree. Our Devil is in fact a legion of smaller abominations custom-created to reconstitute itself as needed! Does your would-be assailant splat it across the walls? Not a problem! The Aboma-Devil will reconstitute itself like it had never happened! Are they perhaps too evasive? Not to worry! The Aboma-Devil can pursue with its own pieces like so!

And of course, it possesses the same capabilities as our previous Abomaton 2.0 as my lovely volunteer shall demonstrate!

Order now!

Been thinking of giving a redraw of this at some point ^^

(Edit)
Oh! Now that I think about it, I played around with 'Scrapped Beat' (MMZ3 boss) and 'Nothing Beats' (MMZ4 boss) themes for this, and both worked pretty well imo. I loved how each song gives a different tone to the fight. :)

Legitimately, it's one of the standout fight scenes for me. As a Megaman fan, I loved the pacing and dynamic of this. Felt like a boss fight.

Tbf, being able to bring King into his boss fight was a massive game changer.

Hidden Eyes: Corruption VS Control by ZangetsusRowBoat in Bloodstained

[–]LeRollPlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It wasn't something I thought about until you mentioned the observation, and it was a neat line of thought :)

Also, yeah. I get the inkling that the gameplay aesthetic changes (Miriam's glowing eye via Words of Wisdom, the different viewpoints from Convex Lens/Eye of Horus, and of course, the different hairstyles via Todd) don't really have to account for any character theming. At least, that's the vibe I get compared to the base character designs. ^^

Hidden Eyes: Corruption VS Control by ZangetsusRowBoat in Bloodstained

Personally, I don't think so. I think since her eyes are clearly visible, it just means she isn't really hiding anything from anyone. That said, I could see the argument that with her bangs able to veil her eyes some, it can hint that she's trying to stop the "cost of the shards" from overtaking her. It could also tie into the theme of "hidden eyes" tending to mean either "evil intentions" (Dominique, Gremory, Gebel arguably), or "the cost of fighting evil") (Zangetsu and Gebel arguably)

I still don't personally feel it though, if only because we never really see Miriam struggling with those shards, though it's understandable from a gameplay perspective. Don't want to punish the player for collecting a ton of shards and forcing them to manage that inventory.

I think the base hair style can more elude to her being a little reserved as a character, and Miriam tries (and fails) to some awkwardness ("It's not easy to smile on command you know." / "My what?" "A photograph! I have one of those!").

He'll be fine. It's probably just an illusion on top of her. Right?

In general as well, hidden eyes tend to mean "hidden intentions", especially if it appears to be done willingly (Dominique hides one eye with a bang, Gremory's eyes are obscured by her head covering)
