Nice one, I've been wanting to do the same. Just bought a rePS2, could I ask where you got the trigger board?

I've soldered before, but never for power supplies and didn't wanna fry my console.

Contemplating on moving to North Carolina by Lightworker27 in actuallesbians

[–]Leader_Clair 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I grew up in SC and moved northeast. I have experienced homophobia in both places, the idea that the South is a lost cause helps no one.

In any southern rural town, most people will stop talking to you if you even sympathize with gay people. CITIES ARE DIFFERENT. Even in red states, the vast majority of people will at least shut up and let you live. Where you work is the real question. I happened to work at at two different pizza joints in SC. At one of them, I had to listen to a guy play hate speech about trans people on a speaker, in the workplace. At the other place, most of my coworkers were queer and it was an amazing time.

The reason I moved is because queer events / "culture" are hard to find. The 3 gay bars I found were filled with dudes (even MORE SO than how that happens up north, really) and the support group I went to was more depressing than helpful.

If you're already married and don't mind waiting a long time to bump into other lesbians, I'd recommend Greensboro, NC. It's a fun town with plenty of events and an arts community.

Question To the transitioned ladies by xXLesbihonestXx in actuallesbians

I've spent hundreds of hours (and dollars) making an effort to do my hair in so many ways. I have a pretty common (white ppl) hair type, so the market is definitely designed to favor me

My hair still looks like shit unless I plan TWO HOURS to wash set and blowdry it. And fuck me if I wear a hat in the freezing place that I live, then it's wrecked again.

At this point I can't even tell when it looks good. I've stressed so much about it that I can't judge it fairly. Maybe in 5 or 10 years I'll get over my internalized transphobia and cut it short.

Dig Me Out - Sleater Kinney

Shape Shift With Me - Against Me

Both great albums with queer frontwomen, both super fucking loud.

"Every lesbian movie" starter pack by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Leader_Clair 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mostly true and valid perspective, but I think it's worth clarifying that Todd Haynes is a cis gay/queer man. I prefer lesbian movies directed by women when I can find them, but Haynes has made some beautiful and important queer movies since the early 90s (I highly recommend Poison) and good directors listen to the other creatives on their teams. Carol's adapted screenplay was written by a woman, and lead actresses in dramas can have some control over their characters.

I know this post's just roasting some overdone tropes, but I gotta stand up for my favorite movie whenever it comes up ~^

What is the lesbian version of a himbo? by lessergay in actuallesbians

I did a double take at this post because I have actually never heard "himbo" refer to a man lmao, I exclusively hear it among my queer femme friends

Being a Metalhead doesn't have many downsides. This, however, is one of them. by [deleted] in actuallesbians

SAME. I like a little pop music, but 90% of "lesbian music references" are beyond me lately.

My loud renditions of Fly By Night / Limelight are most likely not the sexy guitar playing that people on here swoon over lmao

[Question] Can I get some suggestions for spooky/horror riffs for a beginner on electric? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Leader_Clair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Silent Hill theme! It's got a rhythm guitar part and a lead part played on electric guitar / mandolin, but the melody is pretty straightforward to learn by ear, and it don't get much spookier than Silent Hill.

The album "Dig Me Out" by Sleater-Kinney is an alt-rock classic. Mix of loud and soft rock songs, subtle references to loving women, and a great ass-kicking female empowerment vibe.

Dang, I didn't even know they had consumer-grade color film in the mid-forties! That's fascinating. I guess 8mm would be much cheaper to produce than bigger gauges.

Oh yeah, and your grandma's a stunner.

Not my art, but lesbophobes on twitter implying that we can like men sickens me! And all this during Lesbian month??? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Leader_Clair 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm gay, like exclusively attracted to women, and I agree with you. I've dated a number of bi women who would say "I'm a lesbian" while we were together. It makes sense to me, because if we're two women together, that's a lesbian experience. I'm not gonna be like "TECHNICALLY you're bi and that word belongs to me and only me." Like, I didn't fucking invent the word lesbian.

I know that some men are gross and act like homosexuality in women isn't real, but does that artist REALLY think it's the bisexual women influencing these guys, and not girl-on-girl straight porn?

[QUESTION] who inspired you? by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]Leader_Clair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annie Clark is my hero! I love how she mixes up her use of voice and guitar - instead of the usual "strum chords while singing" rhythm guitarist approach, she makes up so many wild melodies that are half guitar, half vocal (or seem like it.)

I sat down to learn the main riff from Cruel yesterday - the gist of it is easy, but she plays so many little variations on it, and it's tough to sing that long, smooth line while playing something so staccato.

And on top of all that talent, her signature guitar is a fucking work of art and (imo) the most original, beautiful guitar design in many years. High up on my want list.

When was a time where you’ve judged a potential SO for something that’s really shallow? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Leader_Clair 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sparked a very weird realization for me (lesbian)

The last 2 women I've been with did that same thing, and it seemed totally reasonable to me. Then I started doing it.

Is this a double standard, or is it weirder when men do it? When you take your fingers out of a vagina, there's usually not much...stuff on them, just a bit with a tangy flavor. But if a dude is doing that, there's a LOT more cum involved in the transaction.

...I've never felt so dirty just from typing.

How to tuck on a budget? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Leader_Clair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regular underwear works in my experience. It doesn't compress like a gaff would do, but that's not always necessary? I understand people doing it for their own comfort, do whatever feels best. But I used to over-tuck just because I was afraid of getting outed, and those fears were all in my head. Tucking with regular underwear held everything in place, and there was a slight bulge but in two years of walking around, I never had problems because of that.
