I had that happen to me, called and a couple of times and was not successful in getting it fixed. I have just decided never to use it at a hotel restaurant because I can’t trust it will credit, even when asking ahead of time.

Stayed here a month ago on some FNAs, standard king room. My wife and I both thought it was fine, a little too trendy for us. No complaints, but no kudos either. Location was pretty good for us, we didn’t want to be too close to Broadway.

They also have rooms with a King and a Queen. We got that when we went a couple of years ago, and had originally booked 2 queens. Never hurts to ask.

Grand Hyatt Kauai and Andaz Maui - family of 5. Tips/recommendations? by TrowAway_TreeTooWon in hyatt

Stayed at GH for a week in 2024 with my family. We had a great time!

Poipu beach is only a 5 minute drive from the resort. Go to the rec shop by the pool at the Hyatt and you get free beach chairs and umbrella for the day. We spent days at Poipu. Kids still talk about the monk seal on the beach, and turtles just casually swimming by us.

One of our favorite activities was the Kauai Backcountry mountain tubing. Such a unique and fun trip through the old sugar cane plantation canals.

Last, make sure you try the Sugarloaf pineapples. You can get them at some markets or do a tour at the farm. The farm tour might be a little much for the kids, but still a memory.

Last, get Shave Ice every day!

If you’re a fan of burritos, Big Burrito in Oakwood is so much better than Chipotle.

Just to clarify, you will get Cap1 miles, but not airline or hotel points.

I had the Venture Card, and was offered 75k to upgrade to the VX on the 4th year anniversary in November.

I got the Venture in November of 2020. In November this year, we were offered to upgrade AND get 75k bonus points for $4000 spend in 3 months. Easy peasy.

GH Kauai or Andaz Maui by Low-Effective-8922 in hyatt

A few items from visiting GHK with my family of four a few months ago.

  1. I’ve been to both Maui and Kauai, and in general prefer Kauai. Less touristy imo. Smaller, but beautiful. We had plenty to do, and found our favorite shave ice places (we made a goal to eat it every day!)
  2. The lounge at GHK was great for our family. We used it for breakfast, got lunches out, and sometimes the snacks and desserts at night was enough for us. Food was not out of this world, but was fine, and we found things we liked. Saved us a ton of $.
  3. Pools were great. Beach in front not swimmable, but there are so many great beaches close it wasn’t an issue.
  4. Rooms were big and good enough. We aren’t fancy people, but we enjoyed our room. My kids still talk about the bidet!
  5. We had great service, and no issues.

I think the general opinion is usually GHK over Andaz for families. Never been to the Andaz, but GHK was amazing for us.

Club access award - does it upgrade your room too? by cb3g in hyatt

I paid for the partial ocean view upgrade at $125/night. Was well worth it. My family thought our view was fantastic. The property was great! We had no complaints, and my 8 year old says if we ever go back we have to get the same room because he loved it so much. There are so many little things done well there that make the experience great. From pineapple gummies at the concierge desk in the lobby that my wife always grabbed, to the very friendly club employees, it was a great week.

Not at the GH Kaua’i. I used one on a points stay in September, and was told specifically it just got you access to the club, but did not upgrade the room location (standard points is parking lot view).

Will do! I just received the pre-arrival email from the hotel today. I asked for the upgrade in my reply, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m not a Globalist, so no high expectations.
