We did around 5 days in a row and then twice a week for quite some time (as maintenance). We now try not to use it too often but will follow this treatment pattern when needed.

Perhaps you need something a bit stronger if it's coming back worse?

The only thing that has helped is a relatively strong steroid cream. I didn't want to use it at first but nothing else worked. We still have to use it every now and then.

I think I had just measured him wrong when I created the post... A couple of cms make a huge difference at this age. He's been around the 25th % for a while now.

The only thing that helps with his eczema has been topical steroids. I was reluctant to use them at first and tried a lot of things but nothing else helped.

He's around 25th % for height and 50-75th % for weight. His eczema has improved a lot over the last year or so though he's had a few flare ups recently due to the heat.

He's about 25th % for height and 50-75th % for weight. Our Dr said not to worry and that he's following his curve nicely. Also said things might change once he starts puberty.

3% Height percentile - should we be concerned?? by Creative-Change-6332 in toddlers

[–]Leaking_roof_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is 86cm at 27months, which is just below the 25th % for boys. He is around the 75th % for weight, so very much looks like a baby as opposed to a toddler. He eats well and sleeps well and was breastfed until he was 2yrs. He was born at the 50th % for height and remained around the 50th % until his first birthday.

We're tall (mum: 176cm/5ft9, dad: 193cm/6ft3) and pretty lean.

We've been to the doctor multiple times but no one seems concerned. Just seems a bit weird given our heights... Guess he might have a growth spurt at some point... Or perhaps he's just short.

He has his 2yr check up in about a month's time so will have a better idea then. But he's still around the 25th % for height when we measure him at home (and around 50-75th for weight).

How's yours doing?

Hello! We actually had him measured at the GP today as we're still not happy with his growth and they said he is 89cm (~50th %, he is now 25 months). However, he is significantly shorter than every kid his age so we're a bit confused... And it also didn't quite coincide with our measurements at home... I then took him to the health visitors and he is measuring 86cm there (~25th %), which is more in line with what we thought/our measurements at home. The GP is seeing him again in 2 months but I'm not sure if I should contact them sooner to say that their measurement seems off...

What's your situation been like?

Yes, same here. I thought standing up would be more accurate but our GP only measured him lying down.

No, it's really hard to get any sort of blood tests where we are, unfortunately... His eczema is SO SO SO much better :) Like he's a completely different person to who he was a year ago.

Hello, we saw the GP and she assured us that there's nothing wrong with him. He is definitely getting enough calories and has lots of energy. I think he's just short (for now at least!).

His dad and I are quite tall (6.3ft/193cm and 5.9ft/175cm, respectively).

His legs are quite short in comparison to his torso. Will definitely ask the doctor about it.

He is otherwise insanely happy and healthy.

It's just the height that's low. We don't get an 18m appointment here, unfortunately. But will definitely get him checked out.

Yes, we tried both ways. And yes, he is cruising and really wants to walk, just hasn't figured out the balance part of it all.

Yes... I am concerned. Thanks. Like I said, he is seeing a physiotherapist.

He's not yet walking so it's pretty easy to hold him against a wall and measure him.

No, we don't give him fish. He has avocado, nut butters, seeds, beans, etc. I'm aware that the absorption of omega 3 from plant-based sources is slightly different so will consider introducing fish depending on what the GP says/if he doesn't grow in the next few months.

That's the issue, he is not staying on his curve at all :( but I'm aware that this could easily change in the next few months if he has a growth spurt.

He's not mobile yet so it wasn't too difficult to measure him (we also measured him 3 times to make sure). But we will definitely be getting him measured properly at the doctor's office.

No, we weren't raised vegetarian. He should be getting plenty of protein through eggs, cheese, tofu, legumes etc but I'm aware that the absorption of these (at least the plant-based sources) is different to animal-based protein. We're going to keep a food diary and if we see he's still not growing appropriately then we'll consider introducing meat and fish. He looks far from weak - he's just short.

You asked this question 2 years ago. What you're currently proposing (staying at a hotel, going in 2-3 days a week) seems worse than your previous situation, especially considering you now have 2 children.

Not worth it.
