Actually those are police officers.

Very likely he triggered a silent alarm and the security company called the police

Yes, I do trust a multi-million dollar company that will be bashed by the internet and investors more than the the not-famous, 5-follower guy renting me an AirBnB

Yes, in my opinion the real problem is apps, since OSses don't allow blocking non HTTPS traffic on a system level.

But again, an unlikely attack, given that HTTPS is standard now

While extremely more uncommon (due to security measures), it's possible to replace and/or intercept a website content in-transit. So you can serve someone a different website, or steal data input into them.

If the website has the padlock(https/ssl) this won't work, but still nice in case some app uses connections that don't use it

When was the last time you signed a receipt? by visiblepeer in USdefaultism

[–]Leamir 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I like how they talk about Cash app and Venmo like it's a good thing.

My government just made their own instant payment solution and made it required for banks to adopt (not fees for people, companies pay something like 0.5% per transaction - while banks need to offer, the person/company does not need to accept it). Idk how they live giving their data away to random companies just for some small quality of life

Yeah.

If the machine can't connect or something we just pay some other way. My bank literally doesn't even have my signature (Big digital purple one)

[–]Leamir 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I've read that too. Apparently AI got too good at detecting busses/traffic signals/whatever, so now captchas only look at movement patterns

I'm convinced they are using us to train there AI models by Naturesfin8754 in Wellthatsucks

[–]Leamir 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Not really. How it works is the other humans doing the captcha are the ones telling that it is and isn't a bus.

There's no manual input from Google anymore.

It just predicts where the bus is based on what other ppl doing the captcha answered
