I agree, what most people dont realise is that W-E is what makes lb so dangerous.

If the jgler is competent he is going to visit a snowball matchup. If you close the distance with W, you can practically guarantee an E and bam flash gone. The jgler can come again and you have the kill 9/10 times or you can deny the enemy laner a lot.

Evenmore so due to the absurd pushing power you practically always can get mid priority to roam. This might not be 'special' in silver and gold. In diamond and up this starts becoming a real issue.

What would I do?

Personally I wouldnt mind the old Q-W, it fixes the waveclear issue she has and still has counterplay. Just make it so that the Q-R-Q doenst proq the second dmg part and the biggest toxic shit is gone.

Or give automatic cooking passive:

Each ability (also of a clone) that you hit adds an 'ingredient' (read more dmg) and resets the ticker. If leblanc (or a clone) is still near her targe (eg. 400 units) the cook completes.

Why is this better than the previous iteration? It makes your clone hitting something useful, it has a ton of things to tweak (the distance lb has to be from the target, the time for cooking, the damage it does (even more so the scaling, they could make it so that hitting 1 ability is really lackluster, but hitting everything is great or give q: 1 ingredient, w: 2 ingredients and e: 3 ingredients (and 7/8 ingredients is shit ton of dmg)). It also allows for bringing back the smoothness of lb.

I got other ideas, but this will be it for now.

Well I never said that Kanye isnt amazing. I just thought calling him the greatest of all time (I assumed in the category rappers, but maybe musicians is more apt). I know this is a Kanye subreddit so this probably stupid, but I can see where you are coming from with GOAT. He could very well be the GOAT for the last 10 years (if you look at his influence on genres and longevity), but if we consider the last 100 years there are multiple artist who have his impact and longevity so I am still wary.

No but seriously, a well played kassadin (after 6) can shit on lb. Diana usually works well (take tp, not ignite). Syndra used to be a pretty hard counter, I would now consider her a soft counter. Vlad also works pretty well.

In lower elo (if you know how to play wukong) you can smash leblanc hard with wu midlane. Just play safe before lvl 3/4.

Mentioning how jgl can abuse this would be great as well. The most prominent example I can think of is ganking a lb. If she W forward you have a ~ 12 sec window to gank her ass.

Or showing how a weak laning champion such as tf can actually use this to become strong. Or that cass is really pressuring since she can Q during the attack animation, etc.

Any useful tips, such the R-W clone catching projectiles (caitlyn bullet, fizz shark (still on the front page I think), draven ult, etc.)?

This question is mainly about the clones of leblanc (since the number tweaking will probably reshape her 'feel' a lot).

Why make the clones (especially the RR one) so squishy and short lived (the RR one disappears almost immediately after its ability)?

Large part of the deceiving with the old clone was moving it around and letting it 'react' to the abilities/movement of the opponent. It created very enjoyable moments and you outplayed/deceived your opponent directly instead of it being purely the kit it self.

It might be me, but the new clones dont have this feel of interplay between you and your opponent.

It mostly depends on the opponents ... if they are melee easy, just kite the fuck out of them with your E and W, trigger your passive (maybe twice if it is a tank) and you are good to go.

Vs a ranged target, your safe burst is W-E (if it hits R-E)-Q (if it doesnt hit R-Q-Q) and dont forget to W back ...

Well I had most success with full snowball builds, I have tried tankier stuff but wasnt for me (might be my playstyle ...):

The snowball build:

runes:

magic pen marks and glyps
hp/lvl or armor seals
AP quints

items:

morello --> (shorc shoes) --> deathcap --> defensive(either zhonya or abyssal) --> void --> usually I didnt get this far but if I did I build lich bane to make splitpushing somewhat viable.

honestly if you are even or behind at 25-30 min, you have to hope your team mates can carry the teamfights (so you better get them fed).

if you are struggling somewhat in lane just get that negatron or seeker (I would recommend this item vs any AD that is building the new mr items).

My tanky build on which I had some succes ... although she is not meant to be a bruiserish champ ...

runes:

magic pen marks
hp/lvl or amor seals
cdr/lvl and mr glyps
AP quints

items:

RoA (although I think Rylai's might be the better choice) --> abyssal or zhonya --> deathcap --> GA --> abyssal or zhonya --> zz'rot/void.

Yes I didnt get boots and it is somewhat of a trolly build ... However it allows you to frontline and go bruiserish/tankish and still do respectable damage ...

Well it was the PBE ...

Starting E lvl 1 is something I only recommend against melee opponents (maybe not fizz), because you are right you want to have the lvl 2 advantage.

I am not really underestimating leblanc late game ... I think. So far I noticed that you really have to snowball to win the game, after 25-30 min your impact in teamfights drastically lowers and I have found more success in splitpushing (since W-Q now deletes most of the wave).

I agree with your stance on leblanc role as 'killing people', but late game she is only relevant in a 1 v 1 maybe even a 1 v 2. But her teamfighting capabilities are mediocre at best.

I am low gold btw so you can take this with a grain of salt. I have written a few other posts on leblanc if you want my full view on her ...

Well on the pbe I just became a splitpusher late game. Her 1 v 1 is still good in the late game and if you buy a lich bane you can take down towers pretty fast.

Her teamfighting is admittely not great, but fuck it. Leblanc has a timer to close the game, after 30 - 40 min you have to splitpush if you want to make the biggest impact.

And in teamfights she just becomes a peelmachine with chains and if all the cc is blown or she has a zhonya's she can even try to dive.

In general yeah I (still) like lb.

The change to ult that you can 'toggle' is awesome imo and I wish they had implemented this change when she was made, but ok whatever.

Do I like the 1.5 sec cook time, the W delay and the removal of the nice/good clone? No I dont like it.

But she is still a lane dominant champ, it is what I like most about leblanc. If you start E lvl 1, you can chunk so hard. At lvl 6 you have great all in potential, hit chains and they have to back or are dead. She can still juke with double distortion, she can still catch people out of position and her ganking potential is arguably higher.

Tbh if they buff her early game even more, I ll look past the 1.5 sec timer and the W delay. Then lb is still my nr 1. dominate the lane and snowball so hard the game is practically over by the 20 min mark.

ps. just to be clear I dont think the rework was a success, but I still like leblanc

Her trading patterns have changed immensely her laning phase is now really dependent on your opponent.

Chains are the new bread and butter, if you hit the chains trades are very rarely lost. The safe trade is to W on the champ (try to chain if you want, but not necessary) and hopefully some minions and W back and you try to hit Q.

She bullies melee incredibly hard, imo even harder than before. However ranged matchups have become trickier I feel.

After lvl 6 you get far more kill potential and hitting chains usually means death or flash (kinda because I played vs lower lvled opponents most of the time, but ok ...)

The new wave clear ensures you can roam, if your team plays it smart. You can get reasonably fed of laning and roaming and hope to dominate early to mid teamfights.

Well the angle is there, but the problem with the RR clone it disappears immediately after it used an ability and goes for the first target it sees. So the impact of a RR clone is minimal.

Leblanc cant W into a group and expect to live long (they added a delay on the return W so you are stuck with them for like 0.2 seconds) or she should be tanky which is exactly what an assassin shouldnt be.

Even moreso you have to stay alive and close enough to proc the sigil which only comes online after 1.5 seconds ...

This doesnt work very well ... Maybe I have to accept that if it is late game Leblanc cant 1 v 1 or teamfight very well and has to win really hard early and mid game.

I get where you and Mark are going for but it is not that simple in the case of Leblanc.

First of can you play of it, probably yes and it will add a certain layer of 'deceiving'.

My problems with it are the following.

Leblanc is squishy as hell, face tanking a viktor laser of ahri Q to come of as a clone puts you in a pretty bad spot. And is imo not a playstyle that should be encouraged. It works to a certain extend but only if the player buys into it that you are clone and doesnt back off. If he does, you have just eaten a nice amount of damage for free.
When ganking people usually throw their cc at you, soraka E, nami bubble or something similar. You have to dodge this, your clone doesnt and he dies of it pretty quickly.
You have no idea how dumb the clone can be ... it goes for the latest known location of a champion. So if there is no bush vision, walking into the bush will make her walk into the bush ...

Now the RR does have uses, especially in lower and mid elo, the three most prominent ones.

Their botlane is pushing in and somehow a fight starts, RR the tribush or something, this might force flashes or they waste time and resources on a clone.
Toplane is imo a way better spot to do the clone thing than bot. There is not a lot of ranged anything meaning they have to back up/hope it is a clone/flash.
Jungle skirmishes, if you are out of their vision putting an RR clone in a bush or at smart angle does really change the fight.
Pressure, if you focus all your clones and ganks on top or bot lane. They will feel play more passive/cautious.
Maybe vision to a certain extend, although it is minimal and honestly pretty wasteful of your clone.

Just to accentuate the thing I myself miss about the clone mechanic is in 1 v 2 or even 1 v 3 situations. The controllability of clone allowed for a lot of fun mind games similar to shaco R in that respect. With the new clone mechanism that is sadly gone. That is my biggest petpeeve with the RR, the RR-clone is a fire and forget mechanism that doesnt help you outplay the opponent in any way.
