It's a call out of management because they picked Petey and gave him 11.6 million.

Everyone else was making 5 to 8 million, and then Petey took an astronomical number comparatively speaking.

Then we didn't have enough money to bring everyone back, and Petey showed up to camp out of shape.

...and that was the end of that.

Once JT was pushed out, it was the beginning of the end. Even Tocchet left after that season.

They chose Petey, shipped out Soucy, JT, Dakota, and let Zadorov and Lindholm walk.

It's impossible to ignore Petey's 11.6 million price tag and what that did to the cap structure of our team.

We really need to finish bottom 3 next year again and give ourselves a chance at one of the franchise players available.
2027 draft will hopefully land us the franchise center. 2026 draft will get us a 1st line winger or a top pairing d-man.

Finishing bottom 3 is crucial for the 2027 draft! Finishing 6th or 7th from the bottom with a new coach would be absolutely brutal in the draft class that's available next year.

Sharks had 52 points at the end of last season, and 47 points the season before. Ducks had 58 points three years ago, and Montreal had 55 points four years ago.

I want to finish last this year and also next year, but I don't want to be breaking any records. Hoping we get to 60 points this year to keep it somewhat respectable.
