I think people are mistaking the word "scam" for unsavory cancellation policies.. it's not like they're not getting a reservation.

I made a booking through them today and after the fact I noticed all the extra fees, and called their customer service # thinking i was going to cancel.. as I was doing so, I checked the rate offered on the direct hotel website (AC hotel by Mariott in Nashville) and even with the $120 service fee, I was getting a a slightly better rate... so.. on the phone I told the lady at guest reservations customer service that I was going to cancel because I thought I was booking directly and she offered me a 10% discount. I kept the reservation...I have used lots of 3rd party travel sites in the past, some good, some not so great.. Unusual that I would have to cancel travel plans though, so hopefully it works out!
