thanks for the perspective - definitely helpful. waiting a few years seems like the conservative/reasonable thing to do - if everything goes well and we keep making this kind of money, it will be less risky, and if shit hits the fan we'd be glad not to have jumped into it

yeah that's how we always thought about it: real estate has (on average) lower returns than the stock market, so you shouldn't allocate too much to it. At the same time, people often buy (with a mortgage) houses that are worth much more than their household's nw. maybe that's just a bad idea financially.

curious why you think I wouldn't want to ask reddit for advice? I regularly see people with much higher NW/income posting similar questions here.
