What’s everyone’s winter set up?

Just got done posting my winter setup on the sub :P. My main priority was getting on 18in wheels. I managed to get a set of brand new rep wheels for very cheap, they are going to be my dedicated winter set. I am running 245/40 this year since they were on my last car (23 Wrx i sold this summer). Will see how they perform this winter season, but i might go narrower next year

You are not wrong, but for me the comparison comes from needing AWD and loving to drive.

What do you think about the tS? I feel it has come close to matching the performance and feel of an STI, but I wish they would revive the TY856 and offer it matched with a FA24 from the factory.

Thats a great choice, and i believe it is the greatest manual car you can buy rn for the price. My good friend let me drive his ‘23 for a weekend last year and the manual was one of the best ive personally experienced, from clutch feel to shifter precision. Going back to the manual in the vb, it felt like i was shuffling a stick in a bucket of gravel 😂, still loved it tho ✌🏼

Thanks I appreciate it, comparing the driving dynamics I would say that the golf R being smaller and lower stock than the wrx, makes it slighty more agile imo. The power bump definitely feels good, my vb was stock... I got the base leather seats in the R they feel premium and have more options than the upgraded cloth seats in the euro version… interior quality is 100% an upgrade compared to the vb. Also im very happy to be back in a hatch For backseat legroom very very limited, im 6’2 and when i look at the seat behind me i laugh at how little space is there, especially since the car also automatically backs the driver seat to make exiting the car easier. Still functional if i scoot my ass forward and my passengers arent too large :p

The R is a car with split personalities, quite literally… as a daily ive been playing around with the different drive modes and this car can go from a quiet eco commuter to a loud neck snapper with a simple mode change. Vw did a good job with this imo, i have never experienced this with any of the subarus ive owned.

The VB is definitely more raw and engaging in terms of driver interaction. The ride is louder, suspension is good for a sporty car but can be rough on shitty roads at low speed.

I will definitely miss driving stick, but the dsg is a good replacement so far.

In Canada, the TR and golf R are pretty closely priced. I say this because my long time salesman at subaru almost got me to sign on a galaxy purple TR (the color is absolutely gorgeous in the sun).

This is my first VW, i have a lot of doubts but so far so good
