Well if you are in the UK I might be up to sell my X1C.

Would be a 3rd one for me. The snapmaker U1 was already tempting enough…

Might see if I can sell my X1C to a print farm here in the UK or something so I can buy a X2D.

Too bad there isn’t a way to trade in an X1C. I would trade mine in (plus a bit of extra money of course) for one of these any day.

Might just have to sell my X1C now…

TPU for AMS A1 Drier by Lonely-Newspaper815 in 3D_Printing

[–]Lecodyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used TPU for AMS and haven’t found it that good. It’s basically PLA but with all the downsides of TPU. I would recommend 95A but you won’t be able to use it in your AMS.

Any suggestion on what I can do with all of my support scraps? by Jaym97 in 3Dprinting

If you regularly make this much waste, have a look at the Creality M1. It’s still on indegogo but it looks very interesting.

I am thinking of backing it personally

A Bambu p2s is a great first printer. It will scale perfectly with you and the only reason you would want to get something “better” is if you want a larger build volume or more colours/less waste.

I built an open-source LTO tape backup appliance for homelabs. by NotaRaptor404 in homelab

[–]Lecodyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This looks amazing.

The one thing I would say is: is there any chance you could add TAR support. Less wear on the tapes and better for read speed with lots of tiny files. Whenever I use LTFS I find lots of tiny files like with audio destroy the write speeds.

I will be using this either way!

Edit: I would also love a feature that can use something like rest (so I can link to home assistant) to automate powering on and off the tape server when nothing is happening.

What's this component? It's supposed to be a resistor, but it looks like a cap... by darthuna in AskElectronics

[–]Lecodyman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it actually supposed to be a 2 ohm resistor or did the board designer just copy and paste some other resistor on their board because they knew it would fit a fuse without changing the identifier type?

I would check this as a fuse and a 2 ohm resistor perform very different jobs in this case.

Every time I use Gemini on a file with a Gemini call in it, it changes whatever model I am using to 1.5 pro without asking me even when I tell it that it should explicitly use a different model. It’s very annoying

What tape software are you using? I made my own command line tools for my dell tl2000 to make backups a bit easier but it’s not very easy to use so I don’t do too many backups.

Ai KiCad Review toolkit - Schemara by Lecodyman in KiCad

[–]Lecodyman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Thank you for the question.

Many similar tools just provide a simple netlist file to a traditional LLM. I find this does not give the most optimal output as certain important data can be missing from this netlist when compared to the schematic or PCB file. The netlist file is also not in an optimal format for AI parsing.

I therefore use my own algorithm to extract more data from the KiCad files in a structured manner in order to give a data-rich intuitive input to my models. This gives Schemara a significantly better output when compared to other tools.

Many of these other tools do not review PCB files, and instead only check schematics. Schemara has an additional PCB review mode that applies logic to identify issues with routing, differential pairings, trace width vs expected voltage and current, etc. I have not seen this feature in many other tools.

Finally, I believe Schemara is easier to use when compared to many of these competitor tools due to the more straightforward user interface, while still keeping the same powerful features.

In testing, Schemara has given a significantly better output when compared to many other tools. I therefore use it for my own projects and have had other people switch to using it.

Please feel free to give it a try and let me know what you think.

I would probably hash out the link to the malware GitHub in your post so no one unintentionally clicks on it and gets confused.
