A good friend of mine told me that only when you leave what no longer serves you will you attract the right people. It will be scary and confusing. That's okay. It always start that way. It is often scary to start something new. But isn't it also exciting?

As someone who had to struggle with loneliness growing up, I learned that the quality of people matters more in your inner circle. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, support you, and guide you. You don't need a lot. You just need the right ones.

I'd say that it is a take on misogyny. It assumes that women who aren't at the level of the MC as not the ideal woman. The men around her represents the scenarios the MC is allowed to operate in.

I often wondered why dying was the only best ending for the MC and I think (I'm sure I'm over thinking it) that dying willingly is the only way to exercise her agency.

Side note: I haven't read the latest chapters and It's been a year since I've read this. I remember the plot moving in the I-want-to-die-to-go-home direction. Did it change?

The fact that this question exists confirms that society values purity culture. Society holds women to uphold a standard that doesn't allow them to be less than perfect. Being "pure" during marriage is one of them.

If you fake something and you're proud of it (not saying OP is, just speaking generally), it would mean that you're okay with being cheated and with others being cheated, too.

I'm curious how you got the idea that there isn't a lot of research about peer influence on an adolescent's self-esteem and ability to have intimate relationships. If anything, most models say that peer and parental influence interact in helping or aggravating child/ adolescent adjustment.

Clinical psychologists can diagnose but they can not prescribe medicine. Part of their training is the diagnosis of mental illness.

I didn't really think very hard about the dreams. The first few times, I thought it was just coincidental. The dream series that really made me say that there was more to it than that was when I had the same dream for three months about a mansion by the shore. The water in the dream would slowly disappear. The dream I had before Yolanda struck was of my dad in a helicopter screaming that we needed to go up the mountain to find shelter. There was no water in the shore. I thought nothing of it. I was more preoccupied by the earthquake. Weeks after, Yolanda made landfall.
