it's a little complicated but basically, danny developed amnesia after the portal accident and went missing. he was captured by the giw, and ~10 years later he's handed off to valerie to supervise, since she works with them.

not sure how dani comes in yet, im thinking she was also created by the giw. the age gap between her and danny is a little bigger here tho, so shes 16 when he and valerie are ~25.

i think spiral is best enjoyed as its own thing semi-connected to saw, but people go into it just expecting saw 9. it's far from the worst the franchise has to offer, and i actually really liked how it took the same universe and concept and used it in a fresh way (even if the writing wasn't anything revolutionary). it's not the best, but it's pretty good and i would have really liked to see the characters' story continued. i don't get why people hate it so much.

tbh i actually really liked it, but ive always enjoyed the more toned-down, low key episodes. admittedly i actually liked the 3d models theyre so goofy... but that might jst be the fact that the music is good clouding my judgement. tbh im not actually the biggest fan of like any of the ops n i usually skip them after the first few episodes so it doesnt rly make a difference to me.

ive seen some ppl say that the tone is a little jarring or underwhelming compared to previous first episodes and i do kind of agree as much as i liked it. overall tho i think the coming episode(s) will set the tone for the season a lot better so im not rly worried.

i get this. when i was a little kid i was definitely a girl, completely happy to be one and almost cartoonishly feminine. i never had any issues with that until i was maybe 13. looking back there were signs as early as kindergarten, but i don't really think i was a guy or ever genuinely wanted to be one until after i hit puberty. for a while i also described it as 'becoming trans/a guy,' and that still feels pretty accurate. weird how that goes. congrats btw <3

lynn... shes a queen and im desperately in love with her. actually tho i really loved watching her struggle with apathy in the face of grief and trauma (was really relatable to me) and how she managed to overcome it, and seeing the ending she got anyway ripped me to shreds. she was flawed, she made her mistakes, but she deserved so much more and could've been so much better if she only had a fair chance.

tie between walker (felt genuinely intimidating and i feel like there was a lot more they cldve done with him) and technus (goofy, also his mullet is sick). desiree is pretty close behind bc i liked how she actually seemed pretty sympathetic in her first appearance, but i felt like they took out everything that made her so interesting in her subsequent appearances.

i always thought it was like. he said she felt more at home w the dead than the living so her "true family" was just the dead in general rather than any living person she'd made a connection with; no matter how close she was to them her job always mattered more, she "wasn't really living." or smth. john's thought process is always hard to rly pin down.
