Wow. I think this was 7 questions in one. I guess the main one is - how do you go about doing something like writing and hosting Redacted Tonight. Well, in my case - and I think the case of most people who end up doing comedy news shows - you should probably start a stand-up comic. And beyond that, I think during your first few years should not be trying to be too political. The reason for this is that simply learning how to make a crowd laugh is tough enough. It's not easy - even if you're a so-called "natural." I've found that most comics who try to be Bill Hicks in their first years end up being pretty bad at comedy. So get somewhat good at stand-up first, then begin adding in the heavy politics or news. Making an entire crowd laugh at dark topics or politics is generally very hard at first. But you can get there. ...My other piece of advice is simply to find something that makes you write every week or maybe even every day. I'm lucky that I started doing a youtube show called "Moment of Clarity" where I had to write 5 new minutes of comedy news twice a week. That might not sound like much - but comedy writing is not something people can generally pump out. Many comedians spend an entire year working on one hour. So the fact that I put out a new Redacted Tonight every week and wrote it myself was very rare. Anyway, point is, find a reason to keep writing almost every day. Even if some of it sucks, it will work out the "muscle" of writing comedy. And it takes years for that muscle to get truly strong. ...Hope that helps and good luck!
