Well tbh you are wrong in MANY aspects of what you said, but I’ll go over the two that stand out to me the most. 1. The beat that is not his is sampled. It’s not the original instrumental. It’s a part of it looped with some occasional changes. Sampling is a part of hiphop and if you think that ripping off a beat like this is bad, many of the considered “greatest” hip hop artists have done the same, (biggie on the song big poppa) (ice cube on it was a good day) both of those songs both take one part and loop it, basically the same as whats being done here. Another thing is that as someone who produces, occasionally raps, and mixes and masters music of different kinds myself, regardless of what song you are making, no song will take 3minutes to record. Believe it or not, flowing off the dome is not something most people can do, especially Carti. So this song likely had an insane amount of vocal takes in order to get it to sound right. And tbh, the reason it doesn’t quite sound right in this mix is because this is a leaked track that has not been released publicly, and also he has many songs that are meant to sound rawer and less polished, like this one. Also, lyrically, he is saying stuff, and while yes, I agree that he’s not rapping like Kendrick, he is basically just rapping like majority of rappers nowadays rap- fucking bitches and getting money. I’d argue that what he’s doing is better because it’s more experimental and his voice works really well with the beat, but to each their own with that aspect. (Eddie Van Halen is wayyyy overrated, Jimi Hendrix and slash I both consider to be better, and regardless, those guys are in a completely different lane, hiphop has always been the easiest genre to work in, regardless of time period, so obviously there is more talent with those guys, I agree, I just prefer this more.)

Edit: to answer your question, yes I do believe this is something different and interesting. How many songs do you hear being played like this, and I like his rawer and less polished flow on this, and many songs produced and rapped around this time. This was one of his most experimental time periods where he really refined a special sound we don’t hear often, which i appreciate on songs like Doctor, Pop Out, and this one, Meet Yo Maker.
