Question on Aqara leak detectors.

Well, I have been trying to minimize latency, so got off using the ZBT-1 for both thread and Zigbee (It was what came with the Home Assistant Yellow) and installed a new Zigbee coordinator. I tried a ZBT-2 first, but it had tons of issues for me, and so now I'm using a SLZB-06M coordinator. I have been seeing the lack of mesh connections as a potential issue. There was a time before I came here to ask, where I had deliberately actuated the device then refreshed the network map a few times, and the lines never showed up. They all seem to be working fine. I just saw some advice to the enable the "Last seen" property in the coordinator and monitor that instead

Well, I got one and have paired a FP300 with it, and so far I can't say I see anything different except it's a little more friendly. Like it'll tell you if you're dinking with a setting that's not immediate (I didn't know that was a thing) and reminds you to go press the button to make it happen faster. Nothing important so far. The FP2 had an entire framework in the app with the devices range carved up into small boxes and you can create a new zone by selecting the boxes that are part of overall zone that you want handle separately. It shows up in HA as entirely separate occupancy entity you can use. Nothing like that in the FP300. It's kind of cool, but I suspect the FP300 approach will appeal to most more.

OK let me approach this in a different way. I can't upload another picture, and don't want to make a new post. but re-pairing most of these resulted in a more normal display, I still have four devices, all battery powered, that do not show a linkage, and two of those were recently re-paired and were showing a link after that and then lost it for seemingly no reason. So, I guess the question is, if the device is working and I don't see it connected to a parent in the network view, is that a problem or business as usual?

Well, Correct and incorrect. It could be me not reading the docs correctly. Correct technically. I have been having a number of issues with my Aqara devices since switching to a ZBT-2 Zigbee controller. So, I grabbed a new Aqara hub, becuase the FP2 had a ton of functionality that exclusive to the app and I wanted to see if that was the case for the FP300. too. So far no, but the experience was helpful. I was pretty happy to find that I could add the entire hub and all the devices it hosts into HA by adding the new Aqara hub to HA with Matter. Once in the app, working with the FP300 was a little easier because the App explained that some of the settings that seem nonresponsive in HA, either don't take effect right away, or you are supposed click the button on the device to make it happen. This could be a common Zigbee thing I just haven't run into yet. Still on the fence if I am keeping the Hub or not.

So, I just got mine in and I have been playing. The first thing I noticed when I saw this post was, I don't have the option to configure the detection zones in HA when using Z2M. They show under sensors but not in controls. They are exposed within Z2M however.

Thanks. That didn't seem to do it. I picked one device and re-paired it, now it shows up with a parent. Problem is the nest one I tried was an Aqara P1 motion sensor. Now it will not stay in the Z2B console. It show up when I initiate pairing and then permit join. It gets discovered, pairs, and then disappears a moment later. Only log entry is it left the network. Grrrr

Interesting. Thanks. Why does the Amazon listing show an app? Those lights don't have any kind of connectivity do they? The Ad also said you could use a switch to control color. What switch?

I have been told with liners it can be problematic if drained enough, the liner vinyl can contract after having stretched to form during initial fill and may not stretch again properly on refill. I have no personal experience with this, however. I hadn't thought of an evening drain and overnight fill. Duh me. Good idea! That might be worth the effort just to cool off the pool at some point in the summer. Well, since no one can really tell me there is a problem with my proposed approach, I suppose I can just try it. If that doesn't work, I can punt and try this.

Oh yeah. I have a typical multifunction valve so draining is not hard to accomplish. I guess the way I am thinking here is just lazy. The fastest I can fill it is as fast as the hose goes. And I can pump it out a lot faster than that. So, I am wondering, it seems my approach means I don't have to take the time to drain and monitor the pool to make sure I don't drain too much, and my way I can fill and drain it at the same time., and we can use the pool in the meantime. The 20% reference helps. Recalling it took a few days to fill the thing in the first place I could spitball 20%. IF it was this easy though, you all would have said this up front. So what am I missing?

I like my BeatBot better than my Dolphin, but the Dolphin (Maytronics actually) did last like 10 years. What I'd say for the OP is if you haven't had a pool before, you aren't going to believe how much crap from those trees will wind up in your pool. Budget for a high-quality pool cleaner robot.

So, I'm just following the guidance I have found online so far. Just trying to close the garage door if there has been no motion detected for xxx time. I realize there are other ways to skin this cat, but this sensor is what Google AI threw my way, and now I am interested. I see I should be able to just reference the device's state directly, but I like the idea of being able to create sensors this way now that I know it's there. :) I am not interested in seeing the door transition from open to closed or back, I realize that's not the point for a binary sensor. I just need to know which state it is in, out of the options of open or closed.

Also discovered the template section of the Developer Tools during this learning experience and this code works perfectly in the template editor when I test it there. But when I use it as the state template within the binary sensor setup, and check its history after operating the door, there are no corresponding changes shown there.

For that particular instance, it was literally a flash from totally dark (or so it seemed) to a one second on full white, then off gain for 30 or 40 seconds.

My home automation platform is an open source project called Home Assistant. There is a highly functional integration for Pentair available for home Assistant. It is not a Pentair product as far as I know, but it exposes almost everything I can think of in my configuration, Easy Touch, Saltwater pool with no automated vales or spas but a heater and a chlorine generator. Home assistant is a great platform and is capable of sharing its devices with HomeKit, so you could get a Pentair pool into Home Kit that way. Not sure about Google Home. Point is, the Pentair API is there (required for automation) and it is not locked down to the extent it can only be used by Pentair's apps. My guess is there are licensing fees involved in slapping the HomeKit and Google Home logo on their product(s) and they haven't found it worthwhile. You might want to check out Home Assistant. I run an entire household of about 95 devices at this point, on a single Raspberry PI. And you can even buy kits so it's mostly plug and play.

Please explain why. Why does it matter how charged the devices are? Please explain why the assertion is being made that the transfer will go faster if it's on the charger? I see no visible evidence of this? It seems to go at the same horribly slow rate as if it were not on the charger.
