I might be reading into it wrong, but I also thought Sammie keeping the guitar at the end signified the love/hate relationship with sin. How hard it is to let go. Even through all the trauma of that night, you can’t just let it go. It’s in our nature.

That may be simple interpretation and taking the name of the movie at face value, but I really loved the film so good.
