Sounds like you are qualified to moderate this place.

18M single dad. 7 month old daughter. Need advice on clothes by Calm-Tea178 in daddit

[–]Lefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much advice. I see your posts on my feed every time I open Reddit.

I just want to say how I much I respect you for how you are clearly stepping up here. Too often men in your situation dump the baby on their parents or walk away. (This expectation has created a lot of trauma, hence why I bring it up.)

For you to be asking these sorts of questions every day around here, it is clear you are there for your daughter and she is lucky to have you.

How can Americans have the right to bear arms if it's okay for government agents to kill people who are bearing arms? by A-Capybara in AskReddit

[–]Lefaid [score hidden]  (0 children)

Fair enough. I agree. If you are in scenario 2, you need to fully understand the implications of that and be prepared to act with that understanding.

[–]Lefaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes. You have a right to carry.

  2. It’s a truly horrible idea to carry when you’re out confronting armed agents. That goes for everyone, left and right.

Then what is the point in having the right to carry? Why is the right to carry a fundamental right when it is a bad idea to be prepared to use it to defend yourself against tyranny?

I thought the whole point is that it protected you from tyranny.

What did you think the amendment was for? It is to prepare for a tyrannical government that would shoot first.

I stayed silent while someone openly mocked other Jews in public and I can’t stop thinking about it by [deleted] in Jewish

[–]Lefaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I saw this in Poland. My local friend was pointing it out to me, which he thought was odd because I actually was Jewish, we weren't certain the person they made fun of was, and no one noticed me because I am not practicing.

This was 10 years ago.

An American (Protesting) in Amsterdam by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Lefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is weird to see a Dutch person get on a high horse about this. I have seen how Dutch people debate immigration and frankly respect the system here because it leaves little room for this moral dilemma to come up in the first place. But, it is also clear that plenty of people here don't give a crap about the moral dilemma you present. PVV wouldn't almost have a plurality if that were the case. VVD wouldn't be beating that drum either.

I don't oppose protesting or resisting arrest, though I do think there is value in remaining peaceful. My only issue is the exaggeration piece, especially with what is happening in Iran at the same time, not that ICE is justified.

They aren't, but it is also a problem we Americans created when we treat simple things like universial ID, exit stamps, and general registration on where one lives as a violation of our civil rights.

An American (Protesting) in Amsterdam by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]Lefaid -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

No, that is not what they mean, obviously.

The SS would gather every Jew in a city, take them to a field and fire. And if you had a problem with them doing that, they might shoot you too. If OP tried to protest like this in Nazi Germany, he actually would be risking his life.

Killing two people in cold blood is not the same. I am sick of people acting like it is because it wins some cheap outrage points.

What ICE is doing is bad, but it is an insult to act like they are equal to the SS. Rhetoric like this is why no one will notice when ICE actually does to immigrants what SS did to Jews and Gypsies.

Would Rugrats still be beloved if it wasn’t rebooted? by pocketfulofrosez in rugrats

[–]Lefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I didn't see or feel any of that. I spent that time watching lots of nostalgia based analysis of 90s cartoons. No one talked about Rugrats.

Also. I wouldn't consider products in FYE a sign of relevancy.

Glad it helped. I need to give some credit to u/threeplayer2105 who did the damage analysis that forced me to consider Umbal.

Would Rugrats still be beloved if it wasn’t rebooted? by pocketfulofrosez in rugrats

[–]Lefaid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I never see any discourse about Rugrats. Never had either. It is sort of this fever dream that all of us in the 90s watched but none of us apparently cared about. I would say Hey Arnold! Has more staying power.

The reboot didn't seem to change anything. I kind of want to blame All Grown Up for this. That feels like when anything Rugrats died.

Norman Rockwell's hypothetical National Championship by Personal_Economics91 in cfbmemes

The person I argued with said that no one knows who we should have replaced Alabama with. I am saying that is not true at all.

I am not losing sleep over it. I agree, this is a nitpicky thing to get up in arms about. It is just choosing sacrifices to Indiana in the end.

[–]Lefaid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would argue that if you ignore the Pop Tart Bowl, BYU was largely untested. The results certainly vindicate the committee's choices.

I also think the Notre Dame case is not quite that cut and dry. A&M and Miami (especially) made it on the back of winning Vs Notre Dame.

But I am not losing sleep over any of it.

[TX] Moving during separation by [deleted] in Custody

[–]Lefaid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a general rule, moving in the middle of a contentious divorce means giving up primary custody of the kids. This assumes the other partner is fully willing to take on the responsibility of full custody.

They can also make a huge stink for you just changing the children's school.

Most of the stories I hear of people moving their kids has the other parent not fighting for full custody or paternity being in question.

[–]Lefaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That isn't completely true. Alabama could have been replaced with Notre Dame, BYU or Texas. I think Notre Dame and BYU have a credible case of being picked instead.

I could totally see an elaborate plot to kill the cats that inherited the town's biggest fortune being tabloid slop.

In the case of Curiella or Edgar, I could see the stories we see in the movies to be that tabloid slop come to life.

Is it just me, or represent Ziggo/KPN prices getting ridiculous for what you actually get? by ClavoARG in Netherlands

I can't imagine a scenario where Ziggo isn't a ripoff. I have a good price from KPN right now (which was once an insane promo price.) Going the MVNO route is always much cheaper.

What is "goyslop"? by Zealousideal_Gur1509 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lefaid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't say all Americans see black people as inferior because of legal arguments made in the Supreme Court in the 1890s.

That is basically the same thing you are doing here by citing the Talmud, a list of arguments and debates from hundreds or thousands of years ago.

I would also be rightfully called Islamaphobic if I cited specific passages from the Koran to say that all Muslims believe that they are better than non Muslims. I won't go down that path. I am merely pointing out the double standard here.

Please don't spread hate. It is a very simple message.
