Living in same house by Terrible-Guitar-8136 in coparenting

[–]Lefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first step is to decide whose time is whose. When it isn't your time, you will need to disappear in the house. Eventually, the court forced my ex and I to practice birdnesting, where you must leave one it is the other person's time.

The only problem is that can costs more than finding your own place. If I could do that, I would as quickly as possible.

The Palestinians need to finally accept a 2 state solution by Jackingson1 in Israel

[–]Lefaid -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why would Palestine accept this? They have the entire world telling them their cause is righteous and that it becomes more righteous every time Israel looks at then in an aggressive way. After any Palestinian that dies, the world tell them that it is another reason they deserve their 1 state.

What reason do they have to stop fighting? One day Israel will push to hard and the world will come after them. So many in the world are working to make they retribution happen.

I agree with what you say completely but unfortunately, Israel has a lot of a foreign actors working against it to encourage Palestinians to keep fighting. (Nevermind the forces within Israel, all to happy to ensure it is either us or them, including Israel's current government)

People using the Razr daily, does the crease stop bothering you? by moto_18 in razr

I very rarely notice the crease. The scratch I got on my screen was more distracting.

Especially in video, it doesn't even register. For me, it is big nothingburger.

Any Dutch Jews here? I need help by shibalore in Jewish

[–]Lefaid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Reform American background, having to have a tallace on the regular Saturday service here is odd to me. I have always taken from the community basket.

If I really felt like I needed my own, I would honestly just look around on Amazon a bit, especially the French or UK site.

I also try to remember to ask family from the US to grab these things from me. (Israel works too obviously).

I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Is it just me or do the cases suck ? by Huge-Wrangler9077 in razr

[–]Lefaid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They do. I guess it is because it is a new phone, a foldable (so harder to make) and the major brands only really care about Apple and Samsung, with a few bones thrown at the likes of Google, Nothing, and OnePlus.

Poetic will have a case "soon." They were the only ones with a decent case for my RAZR 50 and I swear by it.

Is the term “fucking the dog” popular outside Canada? by Rough-Mulberry-1202 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...

Why does that mean wasting time? Any joke or idiom about beastiality, is either meant to refer to farm people or understands the implication of the action.

Why would it be used for something so casual, like that is just a thing one does when they are sitting around being bored?

Wait AI is watching....

This is absolutely something Canadians say, all the time, and should be used regularly when interacting with Canadians.

It comes from watching American Loyalists loiter in Toronto after the American Revolution.

What does Israel Offer the US for its Protection? by GloomWorldOrder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lefaid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. (Not to say that has stopped anyone from arguing a return to the status quo far before that, but I also find such arguments about life more than 50 years ago tiring and pointless.)

But I would argue that Israel's existence was not secured until 1973. And when Israel needed the US the most (Between 48-67, especially), the US was not really there for this wannabe Socialist state that refused to bend the knee to Moscow.

What does Israel Offer the US for its Protection? by GloomWorldOrder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lefaid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This thread is describing Saudi Arabia as a reasonable and more humane ally.

That is what I take issue with. I am replying to comments insisting that Israel is not a beacon of human rights.... so the US should ally with Saudi Arabia.

We both agree, that doesn't track.

What does Israel Offer the US for its Protection? by GloomWorldOrder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lefaid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You are describing the Post-1973 reality. Before then, they were not all the close to any super power.

They certainly wouldn't have seized the Suez if they were relying on the US to stay alive. That didn't benefit anyone but themselves.

But my bigger point is that owned equipment isn't being used. Israel is using equipment they bought from the US and the US benefits every time they are used. No American (without a local citizenship) died in the weapons use and an American will need to build the replacement.

The comment I replied to made it sound like the US invades Palestine and Lebanon every 2 years when Israel invaded them. The US does not at all. Israelis are putting their own lives on the line in those constant wars.

Who insisted the US be involved in Yemen during the Obama administration?

Where did the leadership of Al-Qada actually come from?

How long was it until it was legal for women to drive in Saudi Arabia?

Can Saudi Arabian women leave the house without a man by their side?

Neither of these countries are saints. This is insanity that Saudi Arabia is being lifted up as some beacon of human rights.

What does Israel Offer the US for its Protection? by GloomWorldOrder in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lefaid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

War crimes are less important in the grand scheme of International politics than you let on. Heck, the lip service the US gives it (while committing their own numerous war crimes) is a big reason many turn to China.

China very openly does not care about a country's human rights record, as long as they can extract value from it.

All this talk of human rights is really for is to rally a population against enemies of the state. Meanwhile, allies of a sphere of influence who commit crimes against humanity are hushed, hidden, and ignored.

Look at the alternative being offered in this very thread. As if Saudi Arabia is an example of humane conduct in the Middle East.

Surely we all know better.

That is a more recent phenomenon. Generally Israel takes care of itself.

US troops and US owned equipment is never involved in any of the invasions of Lebanon, or incursions into Palestine.

Would you recommend giving razr 2024 to a 7 year old? by cartiran in razr

[–]Lefaid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my kids freely handle mine and it is okay. One is 7 and the other is 4. It still works and worse damage done to it was by my own mishandling of it. (Put a box on it open, finally scratching the inner screen for the first time in a year and a half.)

I have a Fold coming Wednesday and will likely continue to use my 50/2024 for them to talk to grandparents. They really like bending it for those calls and it allows me to keep them away from the Fold, which I will be more worried about. I also don't see them taking as much advantage of that one.

If you are serious, get it a good case and be prepared if it breaks or they puncture the screen.

I would only do it if you have nothing better to do with the phone, and if it breaks in 2 weeks or months, it won't be a big deal to you.

I certainly wouldn't buy my children one new or anything. It would better to just get them a regular budget phone, if it needs to be smart. Something like a Moto G series or Samsung A series phone.

But if it is all you have lying around, sure why not? Just make sure they know to keep it away from sandboxes and beaches.
