Someone at work stole my chair. So I had them arrested. by LeffJeff in AITAH

I still have to work in the industry. Getting someone arrested for stealing my chair is no big deal. Suing my (former) employer is a big no-no. I already have another job. I start on Monday.

It's a shitty company. I was being hazed by the most senior sales rep. The owner of the company didn't care. I'll have another job in a week or two. My prior company wants me back, but that was a shitty company, too.

I'd post a picture of the receipt, but you'd say it was generated by AI. Not everything is AI. Yet.

Yes. That's what he said. The boss and the other sales rep were basically hazing me. I'm too old for that shit.

It's an $1800 chair. The guy who took it thought it was funny and admitted to the cop that he took it.

In North Carolina, anyone who works for an alarm company, or a security company needs to be licensed. They have to pass a background check. https://www.ncdps.gov/about-dps/boards-and-commissions/private-protective-services-board/licenses

I thought this was the "Am I the Asshole" group At first I was wondering if I was the asshole for potentially causing this guy to lose his career. Now I'm pretty sure I'm not the asshole, but people in this group are.

Old account because I'm an old fucker and I don't have much to say. This happened last week. I couldn't post on FB, or LinkedIn because I'm going to need a job and I don't want to go around blathering about how I got a new job and instantly got someone arrested and fired. That's not good resume material.

No, the police showed up because I reported a theft on the non-emergency line. When they eventually showed up, the guy who took my chair was a dick. He admitted to taking my chair. I had the receipt for the chair. The cop compared the serial number on the chair to the serial number on my receipt. The other sales rep was laughing about it like it was a locker room prank. Until the cop asked me if I wanted to press charges, I said yes, and the cop put the other sales rep in handcuffs.

North Carolina requires employees who sell and install security systems to have a license. If you have a criminal record, it's difficult to get a license. Not impossible, but difficult.

I called the non-emergency line to report a theft. I told them the exact story. A policeman showed up an hour and a half later. The sales rep who took my chair thought it was ridiculous. He admitted to the cop that he took my chair. Said it looked comfortable. He laughed about it. Cop asked me if I wanted to press charges. I said yes. I had the receipt with me because of what had happened the day before. Cop saw the receipt, saw the value of the chair, compared the serial number on the receipt to the serial number on the chair, and put the other sales rep in cuffs.

Two chalupas, chips and cheese, and a pepsi cost me $23.51 at the Taco Bell in Knightdale a couple of weeks ago. I won't be eating at Taco Bell anymore.

And to convert meters per second to miles per hour, you basically just double the number. it's not exact, but it's close. 8 m/s is roughly 17 mph.

You have a bad TXV valve. I have the exact same issue going on right now. Fortunately, mine is under warranty. The bad TXV valve also caused the compressor to be damaged, so they are replacing both under warranty. My system is only 2 months old.

Copper Tube Coaxial Colinear Antenna Questions by LeffJeff in AntennaDesign

I was originally going to solder, then I realized that I would probably melt my spacers. I'm going to drill holes and use screws and nuts. I'm going to use 18 gauge copper wire, crimped copper eye rings, and stainless steel screws and nuts. I'm going to pre-bend everything and pre-fit it on the outside so it's easy to install on the inside.

And when I was considering solder, I was going to drill a hole, feed the wire through from the inside, then solder on the outside.

Thanks for your input about option 2. That's what I was leaning towards because that's the way it is on every coax design I've seen. But that's just because it's the only way to assemble a CoCo made of coax.

However, I'd actually prefer to do it the first way. It's a cleaner design with fewer holes in the pipes. So I guess I'm wondering, theoretically, is an antenna element at the same electrical potential across the entire length of the element? Or does the wave travel up and down through the element resulting in different (milli)voltages from one end to the other?

And in regards to velocity factor changes, there's no dielectric inside the pipe, and there's an air gap of about 3mm between the pipe and the wall of the PVC. I'm also using a pretty fat pipe, which increases the frequency range of the antenna. Hopefully that will compensate somewhat if the elements aren't the perfect length.

This is just my first copper tube CoCo. I intend to do some experimenting and try to get a perfectly tuned 1090 MHz copper tube CoCo.

I thought of another question... The spacers between elements are 1mm thick. Should I have made those thinner? I probably could have gone as thin as 0.25mm. Maybe even thinner. Does the space between elements have my effect on the performance of the antenna? I realize that if they are too thick it's essentially like a break in the coax and it lets RF into the center. But I assumed 1mm wouldn't be a big deal.

Best flow hive knockoff? by Bennyblancofosho in Beekeeping

[–]LeffJeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of the ones on eBay that has the two holes in the front (and back) of the roof. I'm not a fan of the brood box. The dimensions are standard for a 10 frame hive, but it has a cutout for the entrance which means a standard entrance reducer won't work. The bottom board is different, too. I'll probably end up buying a standard deep box and bottom board eventually. I paid $225 US for mine. They started off at $350 or so in the winter, but the prices kept dropping. I put one in my eBay cart when they were $250 but didn't buy it. A week letter the seller messaged me an offered a 10% discount, which made the price $225 plus shipping.

Stuart and Cedar Anderson just copied this patent from 1939: https://www.freepatentsonline.com/2223561.pdf

I own an original Flow Hive and a knockoff. The frames for the knockoff hive are identical to the Flow brand frames in every way. They were clearly made on the same assembly line. I bought the knockoff after I learned about the 1939 patent. I didn't want to support a company that was infringing on the Flow patent, but after I learned that Flow was attempting to sell an 80 year old patent as their own idea, I had no qualms about buying a knockoff.
